Vanessa and her family were the most incredible hosts I could have dreamed of. She has two of the cutest kids, who found crystals around the property and gave them to us upon arrival, and a kind husband who was hard at work improving their land, but still stopped by to greet us.

The cabin sits among giant redwood trees, and you can hear the rush of a creek just a few feet down. The space is simple and small, but clean and cute on the inside, which is exactly what we were looking for: still feels like camping, but with a little extra comfort. However, the cabin is entirely off-grid (no electricity) but they’ve wired some battery powered lights so you will at least have light and running water. Speaking of water, there is an awesome shower house a two minute walk from the cabin, and there is also an outdoor kitchen space with a sink (overlooking the most beautiful view!!). In addition, the kitchen offers a propane grill and burner along with a few spices, pots and pans, and dish ware. There’s also a charcoal grill available, which we used to grill several of our veggies down by the campfire. While we were there it was ok to have a small fire, but it depends on weather/season I believe. When fires are allowed, they’ve provided some stumps to sit on and a pretty sizable fire pit. The toilet situation is the best I can imagine for an outdoor toilet. It’s clean, not confusing, doesn’t smell weird, and even has some decor, which somehow helped trick me into not thinking about the fact that I was using an outhouse.

The inside space had two pull out beds (twin) and a pretty cushy leather sofa for sleeping, so it would be the perfect cabin for a small family. She also has plenty of children’s toys and books, space for meditating or playing, and amazing pour over coffee and teas for morning rituals. I’m already missing drinking my morning coffee on the little outdoor table overlooking the redwoods. Sigh.

Lastly, a little trail about 100 ft from the cabin leads down to the beautiful creek and there’s a tiny wood plank bridge you can walk across. The real winner for us was driving about 30 minutes to Yuba River and swimming in the crystal clear river with amazing white granite boulders. On the drive there is Nevada City which looks like a cool old gold miners town and they have AWESOME lunch spots there. I highly recommend. The cabin is SO close, and the river made us wish we stayed three or four more days. We had a blast.

Thanks again to our host Vanessa and her wonderful family! I would 100% recommend their cabin to anyone!

The most beautiful little cabin in the forest, yet so close to so many awesome sights! What an amazing place to spend the day, just a few minutes drive away! The perfect space to eat breakfast (or any meal)! There is a hot-water shower on site, and we were very thankful! It was so clean and had everything you could need.

We enjoyed out stay and the host, Vanessa, was super sweet and helpful! Cabin was a bit smaller than expected from the pictures, but we were still able to sleep 4 adults comfortably. Lost of provided supplies, so packing is light! Would definitely stay here again.

Vanessa is an amazing host. I'd honestly recommend this location to anyone that loves to be outdoors.

Her family is also amazing (two cute sons). If you ever need anything, she and her husband are there to help you no matter what. The hospitality they have for their guests is outstanding.

There is also a tiny creek right by the cabin where you can visit and relax. You have an outhouse and shower all relatively close to where you'll be sleeping. Would also like to add that the cabin has lights (no electrical outlet), a gas grill, an icebox, and even a sink for you to use.

5 stars all around. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to go camping and you're also not too far from the Yuba River.

Thanks again to Vanessa and her family.

Vanessa and her family were amazing hosts. Her property is so peaceful and beautiful and the cabin was just as expected/ stated in the description. She was extremely helpful in navigating the area as it was our first time in Nevada city, and we absolutely loved it. I wish we had more time to stay and relax by the creek, but overall was an amazing experience. Also, such a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and would love to be able to come back and spend more time.

This place is a little gem packed with a lot of heart! We arrived to clean and welcoming little cabin, and then shortly after were greeted by Vanessa and her husband. This place had the right balance of comforts and camping. I enjoyed my warm cup coffee (which is provided from a local roasted) and stroll down to the creek in the early morning. I sat there early in the morning and read a book while squirrels ran in the trees above and a butterfly stayed by me for company. The shower (with warm water) was refreshing against the crisp cool air. And we spent the afternoon painting next to a large tree, that was made into a home for some little toy dragons. I loved how dark it got at night and how you were able to see every star. When it got a little too cold we just moved inside and use the provided heater to keep warm while playing board games. This was a great escape and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice weekend get away with out the worry of all the packing and planning. Thank you Vanessa for magically weekend.

We found a beautiful blue bellies lizard running around the wooden teepee Painting in the middle of the woods with some welcomed company!

My boyfriend and I spent his birthday weekend at the Forest Serenity Retreat. Vanessa met us upon arrival and showed us around the property. The cabin had everything you needed and was very cozy. We loved the outdoor shower and the outhouse was actually super cute, ha! She even left him a very kind birthday card and gift. We had a wonderful stay. Very relaxing and serene time. Thanks again Vanessa!
