Yosemite done right
The view was one of the best parts of the trip beginning to end. A drive through rolling hills turned to mountains, filled with endless trees and wildlife brings you to the property, with a similarly wild view on the 50 minute drive into Yosemite. Once you reach the site you can explore a bit of the property and take in the views of Yosemite valley in the distance. If you look closely you can see Bridal falls and Half Dome. We were able to go on a short hike down to the creek on the property and go gold panning with one of the hosts. It was exciting and relaxing to be able to dig up some dirt, sit by the stream, pan a bit, and come back with a few flakes after only about an hour. This is a great camp to stay at if you are looking to visit Yosemite. You can skip the morning park traffic one day and relax while panning for gold in the morning then head to Yosemite in the afternoon, or you add a day in the middle of your Yosemite days. Give your feet a break by wondering around the property and cooling off in the creek before venturing out on another full day in the park. No matter how you plan your trip this is a beautiful camping spot away from the crowds in and around the park with spectacular views and great hosts. I can’t wait to come back and visit this place again.
Comfy beds and chickens...perfect!
Very comfy beds, great views. 4 of us were very comfortable there. Carol made us feel so welcomed and our boys had a great time wondering the ranch and playing with the chickens.
Best camp host!
Enjoyed our stay very much! Carol, the host, was friendly, accommodating and a total gem. The RV was super cute; the beds were ultra comfy! And the view was just breathtaking. It’s a bit out of the Yosemite area with poor cellular service, but we didn’t mind bc we were looking for peace and seclusion with bright starts at night and beautiful sunrises and that is exactly what we got! I also loved that Carol has some working (and very sweet) dogs on the property. Makes you feel safe at night with all the wildlife. Would definitely recommend staying here and I plan to stay again in the future. 5 stars!
Far more than just a place to rest!
Carol is awesome! She made sure to let us know exactly how to get to her place (GPS will take you down bad roads). She is super accommodating, making sure to let you know of what is available on site and making sure you are set for the night. The trailer beds are really comfy. She does have dogs but they are really chill. It is a bit of a drive from the park but the view is amazing and it's nice to be away from all the bustling of cars and people that you would get in the park. Her property is in a beautiful place, I wish I had more time to explore it. I would definitely recommend staying here especially if you want to do more than what is available in the park.
Great night's sleep!
We had an awesome stay in Carol's Camp Trailer! Her directions were perfect -- don't follow your GPS, it will tell you to go on some sketch dirt roads! The trailer is super cute, perfectly situated for the sunrise over Yosemite in the distance, has the comfiest beds and cutest details. Her sweet dogs kept any critters away at night and were so well behaved, we really enjoyed having them around and they made us feel super safe. The trailer toilet isn't connected so prepare to use the porta potty instead (was very clean, but still it's a porta potty, ew). Do take advantage of the outdoor shower -- so awesome! Also the brick patio and dining table outside was perfect, we loved it so much. Will definitely be back to this awesome property!
Carol was great!
The view was amazing, looking towards the high sierra. Off the beaten path but close to yosemite.
Carol had a great balance of being helpful-giving back road directions to yosemite- and giving us space. Her ranch dogs were super friendly and loved our 1 1/2 year old son, and kept guard all night! The chicken coop was a bonus for the little guy!
I would definitely go back, shoot might even come back next year!
Cozy camper with views of yosemite.
My family and I spent 4 magical days and nights at Flat Rock Ranch. Our toddler loved running around, watching the chickens and checking out some of the equipment on site. Camper was clean and cozy. Easy to cook in. We ventured in to Yosemite - both entrances were an hour drive away (you can see Half Dome from the camper!!). We loved exploring the back roads in Gold Country! We will definitely stay there again.
