Great place for covid car camping!
Great place for car camping during Covid! Site had an individual fire ring, grill, picnic table, and space for our 2 tents (could probably fit up to 4 if needed). Ample parking about 20 feet from site. Potable water available from multiple taps Bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. Steps had clearly been taken to ensure safety and health during the pandemic.
This is not private/dispersed camping as there are numerous sites alongside the lakeshore, probably about 40-50 feet apart - which is plenty for social distancing etc but you will certainly see/hear other campers while at your site. Everyone seemed to be quite friendly and respectful of each other - no issues with noise or anything like that.
Area was beautiful - lake was warmer than expected and there were two separate beach areas. Great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. Canada Geese mostly kept to themselves. Tons of birds around the lake - including a bald eagle!
There's a cafe at the entrance to the campground that serves food, and also sells cheap firewood and bags of ice (no wood gathering on site).
Eileen was very responsive to questions prior to booking, and Jill was extremely friendly when she stopped by the site in the morning. Thanks to everyone at Finnon Lake for a great stay!
This is the first time we have been to this perfect little campsite. We were extremely impressed !!! It was private, and so serene. I will be returning every chance that I get this summer. I’m in love
Finnon Lake was the perfect place for a nice, quiet weekend camping. Our site was lake front with a little entrance to the water, and we were close to the shared beach entrance for the entire campground, too. Each site had so much space and lots of trees in between to create clear borders between sites. The bathrooms had two stalls and were very clean, and people were mostly respectful of the new "one person at a time" rule. The camp hosts were great! They were very nice, and they came around to inform us about the lake. There was a bald eagle nesting across from the campground on the lake! They are also musicians, and they entertained the campers with campfire music at night and even played at the little diner on the lake across from the campground. My sister already made another reservation to stay here again. Would definitely recommend!
The perfect spot with kids
We had a wonderful time at Finnon Lake. Our kids spent the whole day swimming in the water or strolling around the campground. The bathrooms are clean and the hosts were very friendly. Unfortunately, our camping neighbors had a party the first night of our stay. But other than that, Finnon Lake is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed. A big thank you to all the volunteers who take care of Finnon Lake Recreation Area!
although the drive in was windomg and steep, we loved our time here. Jill was helpful and friendly and other campers were courteous. the site itself was a bit narrow at to top, but was long and widened as it got down to the lake. the reservoir water was warm and easy to access via two “beaches” and an entrance through the weeds at almost each site. almost each site had a dog, though they each remained on leash.
Delightful lake with ample shade.
Great Covid camping experience. Well shaded camp spot. People are around but not too close. Water was warm and inviting. Bathrooms clean. Be sure to pack on all you need. Frank’s Diner will sell you ice and firewood if they have it. Otherwise it’s an hour to a store in town. We will come again!
A really nice place
We only stayed one night but it was really nice! Clean bathrooms and grounds, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay. There was a ring for a safe campfire, and a bbq that we could use, but we actually wanted to keep it real simple so we ordered a burger for takeout from Franks Diner right at the front entrance. Good place for people with kids. Bring the doggos too but they MuST be on a leash which is a good thing. The lake is small and clean, perfect for swimming. Bring a raft!
