Welcome to the Honeycomb Hut! Nestled in the foothills of Nevada County, this cabin is the perfect getaway underneath the pine trees. Located on six acres, this beautiful hut was handcrafted with rough-hewn cedar planks. The inside of the hut is super cozy, with two wicker armchairs, a table, a propane fueled stove for heat, and a platform and a mattress with a bottom sheet for your bedding. There are skylights for stargazing, and a giant picture window that looks out on a meadow filled with wild rose bushes. Outside, there are two chairs and benches, as well as an outdoor sink. This hut is wonderful in both summer and in the colder months, as the outdoor space gives plenty of room to spend time in the sunshine, while the indoor propane stove makes everything warm and cozy when it is chilly outside.
This hut is located one mile from downtown Nevada City, making it ideal for walking or biking to town. We are 45 minutes away from the closest ski resort. It is the perfect amount of space for two people, and is wonderful for romantic or friend getaways.
This hut has a beautiful and clean composting toilet that looks like a mini version of the hut, running cold water, and cell service, but no electricity, making for a true glamping experience. There are battery powered twinkle lights provided to add a little magic, but please bring battery powered or solar lanterns for more light. Please also bring lots of warm bedding as it gets chilly in the winter.
More Details-
Distance and Location:
-The house on the property is visible from the hut, but is 300 feet away and partially obscured, allowing everyone to retain privacy. There are curtains over the window if more privacy is desired.
-It is possible to park 150 feet away from the hut, allowing you to carry all your goods into the the hut easily.
-There is a dirt driveway 90 feet away that is partially obscured by trees and only used by one house. The door of the hut opens into the forest behind, and many deer like to wander past on their way to and from the meadow. There is plenty of animal and plant diversity surrounding the camp, and we often hear owls and see rabbits and foxes.

-We do have neighbors, so we ask that you limit outside music after 9 PM and be courteous of noise.
-For fire safety concerns, we ask that you only use your camping stoves on the shelf next to the sink outside.
-For fire safety concerns, please don’t bring or burn any candles or incense.
-For fire safety concerns, we ask that nobody smoke on the premises.

The Honeycomb Hut is a beautiful cabin nestled among the pines with an amazing, large picture window looking out to a mountain meadow. We stayed during the full moon and both the cabin and the meadow were aglow with moon light streaming through the window and skylights. Elena left luscious figs from a fig tree on the property. The cabin is a stunning all cedar throw back to a simpler time. Both the cabin and the graceful Adirondack chairs nestled under the pines outside are relaxing and peaceful. Elena is welcoming, helpful with a wonderful eye for detail. The propane stove made the cabin warm and cozy. The twinkle lights made it magic.
We couldn't be happier with our weekend stay at Honeycomb Hut. It's a [still] hidden gem, although I suspect that won't be true for long! The hut is truly charming and thoughtfully arranged, inside and out. Indoors the one-room building feels spacious and comfortable. There is a comfy bed, and a propane fireplace which along with the battery-powered twinkle lights create the perfect ambiance. We also couldn't get over how well-built and charming the little hut is, with its dutch door, skylights, and huge picture window, along with the cute little compost toilet a few steps away. Outdoors there are plenty of seating options including Adirondack chairs that look out over the meadow, and a rocking chair. We enjoyed having coffee and reading out there while listening to the birds and admiring the vibrant fall colors. The space outside for the camp kitchen (complete with running water) was also perfect. Bonus tip: If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay here, the 1-mile walk into Nevada City past an old cemetery and cute victorians is well worth it. We can't recommend Elena and Johann's place highly enough.
The Honeycomb Hut is the coziest Hipcamp I’ve ever stayed at! The interior is stunning down to every detail. I loved going to sleep with the gas stove flickering and waking up to the trees through the skylight. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Elena was so kind, and the honeycomb hut was precious. Surrounded by beautiful trees, with a perfect outdoor kitchen and twinkly lights, this little cabin was a perfect getaway! Elena was quick to provide suggestions, and made our stay more than comfortable. :)
The cabin is well appointed yet austere. The outhouse was *very*clean. The whole experience was cute and cozy. Stay here!
Wow just wow! What a gorgeous property! My girl and I came up to celebrate her birthday and it was such a lovely place to stay. The large viewing window, the gas fire furnace, the campfire, the outhouse, everything was just all so impeccable!
Not only that, the host was very fun and friendly! I asked if she'd be willing to decorate the place a tad to help celebrate the moment. Not only was she, she made the whole hut just stunning! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Elena and her mom were so kind amd helpful, and the hut is truly gorgeous. Cant wait to come back!

Warm cozy nature getaway- bring a robe and slippers and settle in 🥰
What an amazing place. Only stayed for one night but everything was great. The cabin was well kept and clean. Elena had the fire pit set up for us when we got there along with firewood and matches. The hut was small but was the perfect size for a couples getaway. We woke up to the sunrise through the hut’s large window which was the perfect alarm clock. Highly recommend staying at the Honeycomb Hut!
Thank you Elena!
