New campground with forest and meadow campsites now available, crowned by Dün Cærrę'g on Little Round Top with panoramic vistas of the High Sierras, including over 50 named peaks, the Great Western Divide, Kings Canyon National Park, Blue Canyon, and the Central Valley. Dün Cærrę'g campsites are 4 miles from Shaver Lake, which offers boat rentals and horseback riding, near seven other lakes in the mid-Sierras, China Peak Mountain Resort (skiing and mountain biking), Tollhouse Rock (rock climbing), groves of Giant Sequoias, Mono Hot Springs, and sits astride the trailhead for countless miles of popular hiking, horsing, and OHV trails in the Sierra National Forest. Foot, motor, horse and buggy campers welcome. Come join us for Alpenglow! Due to extreme fire danger campfires may be disallowed at any time. Please check with your host for today's allowance. If allowed, there's plenty of pickings nearby for your campfire interests. Please burn responsibly. No unattended fires. Although RV spaces exist, RVs towing trailers may find it a little tight. Recommend 60' or less, nevertheless we've had a 69 foot rig land successfully. Dün Cærräïg is literally off the grid. We're known as the orphans of Sierra Cedars, hence refer to our neighborhood as "The Orphanage ". Modern navigation programs, including Google Maps, may mislead you to the incorrect location. Once you book a reservation Hipcamp expands our profile to include detailed directions. Print them out or screenshot them as cell signal is spotty to say the least, and there is no wifi. We've spotted 10 address and name signs at key intersections as you approach the campus. The road into the camp is an old logging dirt road (museums nearby). It is passable, but not perfect. We are adding gravel as we speak, hoping for completion in the near future.

It was a majestic experience! Everything was perfect! The campgrounds had picture perfect views and the close proximity to the lake was great! David was a very welcoming and friendly host. Everything in the description was provided plus more. Loved the layout and vibe of our campsite!

The surroundings of this camp site are very beautiful and the drive itself is an adventure. The road was still quite undeveloped when we was there which made the drive in quite bumpy, I would drive a car you aren't too worried about getting a little dirty with decent tires. The camp spots were all laid out near one another within view of the property owners house (far enough away to have some privacy) and a little more space than you would get at your typical camp site. One of our favorite parts was exploring the camp grounds by foot and enjoying the gorgeous views and unlimited trails amongst the trees. The camp host was super cool and met us at the bottom of the trail where he led us up to the spot, he also helped with some tools for a flat tire. Nice people, beautiful surroundings. :)

Thanks Loretta! We appreciate your visit and review. We are working on the road this summer as you saw, and plan for a smoother ride by this fall. You can imagine the cost of road improvement, then multiply it by 2,500 feet! We are indeed a new campground in development, and invite you to return next summer to see the changes. Regards, David

David was so nice! We were greeted upon arrival and was making our campsite more comfortable based on a past campers comment which was great because it shows he was listening. After our greeting we were left alone to our site and even got to see some deer in the morning right behind our tent ⛺️. I would give this site a 10/10!

Dave was a very nice host and his campground will be a great little getaway from the hustle and bustle of larger places like Camp Edison, once it's actually completed. Dave was still in process of getting the camping area cleared, ground leveled, and building the communal facilities when we visited over Memorial Day weekend but this was not much of a problem for us since we are self-contained in a camper van. Once the sites are ready this will be a wonderful location for any camper. Dave also provided firewood which was awesome, but the tractor running across the property most of the day on Sunday was kind of disappointing.

Thanks David for your patronage and review. Ya'll were wonderful campers. I apologize for Sunday's tractor work, which we kept on the far side of the hill. You noticed we didn't run the tractor on Monday. We care for our camper's concerns and will listen for ways to improve their experiences. Regards, David

David (the host) is a super nice person and very accommodating. We left our trailer and all of our personal belongings at the site while we explored during the day and felt very safe and secure to whole stay (4 nights). They are still in the process of getting the property cleared and ready so it is a bit rough with freshly graded areas but David brought in extra wood chip and spread it for us which held a lot.

As a mother of 3 boys, i expected to be after them all day without really enjoying myself. That was not the case. Since day one, my 2, 8, and 10 year found plenty of areas to explore. Since we had a secluded private area to ourselves, i was able to relax and be carefree without worries throughout our 3 day stay. We went on a lovely family hike that even my 2 year enjoyed without being carried most of the way. The drive to near by Shaver Lake town made it also convenient for quick stops for supplies and nice outing to even grab a quick bite. Further down from town, we had easy access to shaver lake, where we enjoyed some water fun. As we headed back to camp, i looked forward to the perfect picturistic view of our campground with a lovely lighted fire. Not to mention our host David was just a call away if we needed anything and was very thoughtful in providing us with plenty of ways to entertain ourselves. I cant wait to go back for my next vacation. 👍

Thank you Nina for your thoughtful review and patronage. I enjoyed the sound of your children playing and exploring! It reminded me of my childhood, which I do believe I'm reliving here. I was so excited they found the tree forts and spent so much time on Zen Cærräïg. I had told my wife when I created them I'll know it was worth it if kids played and climbed them. Yours were the first! What a blessing y'all were to have as guests. You'll always be welcome at Dün Cærräïg!

David’s place was a perfect camping get away. David was so delightful. We loved our large camp site and the abundant fire wood! There are multiple trails all around the site which was convenient and made sunset hiking ideal. Our little dog was in heaven with such a large . The outdoor shower was a gem! Thanks Art!! We can’t wait to come back.
