Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, just come and get cozy in one of our guest rooms at our secluded horse ranch in the vast and rugged wilderness of the Angeles National Forest. We are very close to LA, but far enough away to provide our guests a romantic and gorgeous nature backdrop. A charming private porch invites our nature loving guests just to sit down and relax. Our very busy wild life in our surrounding forest calls for wildlife watching.

For guests which rather go out for a hike and looking for to explore nature, a three mile long, idyllic single track horse trail, is located right here on the ranch. At some few sections it has it's challenges, but ones you overcome those you will be spoiled with incredible vistas. For hikers which prefer to stay on even grounds, we will point you in the right direction, so every step of the way will guide you through an exotic network of trails, covered with breathtaking views up in to the mountains miles and miles away, and across the desert.

Just make sure you bring appropriate shoes.

During hot summer month, jump in our refreshing cowboy pool, and cool down after your hike. For your dining arrangements there is a barbecue, just bring your own charcoal.  Two rooms offer lodging and share a small, but clean bathroom. A kitchen is not available, guests can bring a cooler with ice, and barbecue- just make sure you'll bring your own charcoal.

A short drive in to town also provides dinning in a restaurant.

During our cold nights we provide heating blankets for your cozy bed, or just get cuddled up with your partner!

Things to do:

Some of our guests come to just hang out in nature, wildlife watching, stargazing and hanging around the fire pit.

The ranch offers also outstanding hiking opportunities( keep in mind the Pacific Crest Trail runs behind and above our backyard, plan on this adventure about four hours), or horse back riding, kids love to ride our ponys- well some adults enjoy horse riding as well, or drive on of our ATV- quads( both at a extra charge).

Meet some wild horses, the ranch is a home to some untamed Wild American Mustangs, two pigs and a group of free roaming goats.

In the evening enjoy one of California's famous sunset, and afterwards it is time to stargaze by a bottle of wine, right from our neighbors winery!

Just spent two night's at Mustang Chalet on Running Horse Ranch. Took my two kids 22 and 18 and some of their friends for an outdoor adventure - eight total. We typically pitch our own tents but decided to try something a little different this trip. The horse ranch is a lovely, well kept property set in the foothills. The mountains are on one side and the desert visible off in the distance. The ranch provides plenty of privacy, with space to roam, beautiful sunrise and sunset views and access to hiking trails. A variety of horses from miniatures to workhorses run freely in a large fenced area, goats roam and there are a variety of other farm pets. The 4 guest rooms set-up side by side were rustic but comfortable with a large front porch connecting them all. There is a small kitchen and a bathroom/shower. Other campers have access to the bathroom through the kitchen, so you will meet some fellow campers staying in other places on the property this way. There was a picnic table, large fire pit/ring and a grill set up for our use, right in front of the porch. A fun fearure is the "cowboy pool," a large cicular water trough set up right in front the cabin. Fill it up with the hose and enjoy a refreshing dip on a warm day. Daniella, the owner, who lives in the main ranch house (connected to the Mustang Chalet) was very accessible and helpful. She provided us with suggestions of things to do in the area, drew us hand made maps of hiking trails and even came/drove over to help us find the trail head, when we were unable to access it. The teens/young adults enjoyed: hiking a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail that is just minutes away, feeding carrots to the horses and other farm animals, kicking back on the shady porch, roasting marshmallows around the campfire, exploring the property and cooling off in the cowboy pool. For an extra fee you can also take a trail ride on horseback or rent the quad atvs. We experienced dramatic weather changes in the 2.5 days we were there and enjoyed the eerie fog rolling in, as much as we enjoyed the warm sunshine and blue skies. The rooms were equipped with heaters that kept us very comfortable on the first evening that was very cold. We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back again. It is a great way to have a camping experience withouth the added work of pitching tents.

I felt immeasurably happy with our evening at Daniela’s. The rooms were quaint and well kept, the kitchen & bathroom had everything we needed, and the surrounding ranch was stunning.

We did an ATV tour with Daniela as well and it was the highlight of our vacation so far! Such a cool experience and epic vistas. She was a perfect tour guide. I already want to go back. Dreamy desert.

I loved staying at the Mustang Ranch. It has the most beautiful views, it's completely quiet and Daniela is super nice, helpful and also of course amazing with horses. I went on a one hour trail ride and it was the best trail ride experience I ever had. Definitely want to come back to ride and stay! Thank you Daniela!

We booked Just ons night but it was great. We stayed in number 4. The directions to get to the place were clear, still not easy to find the exact spot but in return it’s peace and quiet. Checkin was simple, friendly and easy. Went for great hike very close to the place and in the evening visited the local pub for drinks, food and live music. The next morning we went for horse riding. Great instructions and beautiful nature, just great. Overall fun place with animals in beautiful nature. Thanks Daniela.
