About Dirtbag Campground
Our campgrounds are on our desert homestead 6 miles north of the Indian Cove entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, and 20 miles from both the East and West Park Entrances. (Ten and twenty minute drives respectively.)
All campgrounds include expansive space, a fire pit, amazing views of Joshua Tree National Park, spectacular night skies, short drives to all northern Park entrances, proximity to BLM land with open routes, and access to a community porta-loo. It’s a short ten minute drive from your campsite to the Indian Cove entrance of Joshua Tree National Park.
Joshua Tree National Park and surrounding campgrounds tend to fill up during the peak season, leaving campers stranded late at night. If you have a camping emergency our direct phone # that rings to both our phones is listed on our website. We can follow through with your Hipcamp booking, it's just a last resort if you need to get a hold of us late in the evening.

Nice camp site. They provide you with a picnic table and chairs and there's also a fire pit. Portapotty was very clean and had toilet paper, Lysol, flushable wipes, and sanitising hand wipes. Plenty of room for your tent and then some. Ground was soft which let me get some of the best sleep while camping. About a 30 minute drive away from JT. Oh and there's decent cell phone service at the site. Will be coming back.
Second time here. Alicia was super accommodating, reaching out in advance to make sure we were all set with the location and check on our arrival time. She was flexible with our group showing up at different times. Great spot fairly close to Joshua Tree National Park, nicely secluded so you still feel like you're actually camping.
We got there at 7pm on Saturday to watch the meteor shower. We had a great experience. Note that there are 10 sites here in pretty close proximity to each other, if you are looking for something very secluded this isn't it, but there is a good amount of land if you wanted to walk out a bit away from the sites. Very close to the entrances to the park. About 5 of the sites were booked but everyone was cool or kept to themselves. The hosts were very accommodating on our arrival time and had some games and stuff for you to use, bathroom was clean, overall no issues, would stay again.
