Only a 45 minute drive from SDSU brings you to our 32 acre Clark Ranch, part of the historic Hulburd Grove (oaks) Resort from the early 1900's. Our barn use to be the old riding stables!  We are nestled in oaks, pines and cedars along with boulders where you can sit peacefully and turn your heart toward the sun!

Wake up to birdsong and horses whinnying for attention. The Sweetwater River is a five minute stroll from your tent site during the wet season (Dec. - June)

Nights are usually cool and clear; the stars will humble you with their symphony of sparkle!

Descanso means "Place of Rest".  And that is what your soul begins to feel as you meander through our Cuyamaca Mountain community with NO stoplights!

Hike or ride from our property to nearby trailheads. Or, pick up the California Riding and Hiking Trail just up the dirt road.

We're on the edge of the 25k acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park where premier riding and hiking abounds! Bring your mountain bike or horses to access nearby trails.

If you like light or serious hiking, it's all here. Host can shuttle you to points as well. Check out the "Extras".

Tent camping at this ranch was the best weekend we could have asked for! The site was perfect, sunny and bright to lock in some heat for the cool nights. We got our animal fix, with the dogs and horses and all the bird sounds. The hosts make themselves available for all that you need. We got written directions to a local hike-in waterfall, and a much needed recommendation for Sunday morning pancake breakfast at the Descanso town hall. We were able to relax and never ran out of things for the kids to busy themselves with!

This was a great retreat us. The host Diana was very welcoming and kind. She and her husband gave us a tour of the giant ranch with different animals such as horses, ponies and Australian cuties dogs that they have. The style of the ranch is very cozy and you can tell the owners really care about the property and the guests who arrive there. We were welcomed everywhere and had an amazing stay that we will remember. We will definitely visit again with our friends and reckoned this to everyone out there.

Had an amazing stay at Diana’s Descanso camp! Diana and her husband were so welcoming and lovely and made sure to give us a full tour and make sure we had everything we needed through out our stay. They went above and beyond giving up local tips and insightful history about the area. The actual campsite is perfect with plenty of flat spaces for tents, accessible drive up parking, a trash bin, and a little picnic table. The property has a nice clean bathroom with shower, fire pits, smoker, and microwave that is shared with the tipi hipcamp that is also on Diana’a property. This site has clear view of the stars at night and during the day you can explore the nearby creek or pet Diana’s horses. There are nearby hikes in the mountains or you can venture 45 minutes to San Diego. Everything about our stay here was perfect I only wish we had more time!

Diana was extremely friendly and responsive. Unfortunately, I was unable to fulfill my reservation due to a family emergency. Diana was very friendly and understanding. I will be booking another reservation in the future to enjoy the Descanso Camp property.
