The vibe at Mojave Stars Camp

Where to even begin! My stay at Mojave Stars Camp was peace and bliss. Located just outside of Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree, this desert spot was prime to set up camp. Laura gave very easy directions before arrival which took me directly around the 29 Palms restaurant to a wide open area suitable for several lots. Each spot had their own picnic table with overhead roofing while the refreshing outdoor shower and restroom are communal. This spot was nice after a long trip of traveling as I got the entire place to myself with a 360 view of desert and mountains, no complaining there!
So my pregnant self, husband, and 4 year old son camped here last week. This camp spot was absolutely perfect for us. It had everything we needed with a nice outdoor shower, 4 really clean porta potties, a picnic bench and extra benches, chairs, and stools, fire pit, and sun protection. The camp spot is really secluded, which I liked. It’s about 15 mins from the best park entrance. It worked out perfect because we drove thru town on the way to the park and got ice and gas to last us spending the day at the park. It was so perfect and I would love to come back.
This was a great campsite. It's pretty bare bones and feels very secluded, which we liked! It had everything we needed- a fire pit, a flushing toilet, & a picnic table. We liked the fact that there was an outdoor shower but, didn't use it. The Palms restaurant on the property is DELICIOUS. It was fun to be able to grab a drink and a homemade meal a couple of times while we were there. With 6 bloody mary's and 2 full brunch meals, our bill was $17!!
The only negative would be some loud music both nights we were there. We weren't sure if it was coming from the restaurant or somewhere across the road and the noise was carrying. However, NOT the hosts fault, it is worth mentioning.
Great location right near Palms but still very quiet and peaceful. Lovely spot in the desert with th comforts of an outdoor shower!
Only comment for those new to desert camping (which I was) is there are high winds that can make relaxing by the fire over dinner a little challenging.
Otherwise this is a perfect spot for being remote and away from everything, while having the comforts of the local restaurant close by. Beautiful sunrise and sunset.
Sweet little camping spot behind a local restaurant. It's a little out of the way, but it is ideal if you are traveling with a group and can't get a spot in the park. Bathroom facility is pretty decent and is regularly cleaned.
Great desert overnight.
It is a very basic site. If it rains expect mud. That said. Laura was very good at communication. The camp site is 50 yards from a local bar with nice people, cold beer, and the food was basic but tasty. No live music the night we were there. Perfect place to pit stop for a night.
Peaceful and remote stay that had everything as advertised. Woke up to a dead car battery only to have our host respond immediately and even sent out a friendly neighbor that gave us a jump. Couldn't be more thankful. Just icing on the cake to a great stay.
Large open space, near to the Oasis Visitor Center entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Was very happy to have a beautiful view of the full moon rise over the mountains. Site is not too far off the road, so there is some traffic noise - but not substantial. Also, there were a few folks not camping that came by to use the toilets. Not a problem - but personally wasn’t expecting it. The host, Laura, was very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend as a great alternative to staying inside the park, when it’s full.
Great for stargazing
Staying here was very stress-free. We only stayed overnight for one day for stargazing. Even though the summer heat is unbearable but for the hardiest people, at night, the leftover heat makes being out late at night very comfortable.
Even the Milky Way was visible from here.
We weren't able to enjoy the Palms Restaurant next door since they were closed during our short stay, but it's nice to know we wouldn't have to supply all our own food entirely next time we go camping
