Snowkiss Chalet is a retired Disneyland kiosk shelter, now living off-grid (no power; no running water), in rural Joshua Tree mesa, surrounded by mountains, with parking and a tent spot too. It is 8 x 10, x 11 feet tall - a tiny bit of the Magic in the the desert, with Incredible views and under a billion stars, decorated with my Disney memorabilia. 6 miles from Joshua Tree National Park, 2 miles from JT lake. Ideal for 1 couple, or 1-2 in the Chalet and 1 in the tent spot. Book Lazy 8 nearby for your friends and family. The windows sparkle and the snow on the roof glistens! The big metal, easy-to-roll-up window offers huge views of the mountains and the mesa.  Solar shower, flush toilet and porta potty, Community Area - are all down the walkway. NO commercial filming, photography or drones footage allowed. No smoking in the Chalet; empty your ashes outside only. No wi-fi but great cellular data. No. RVs, sorry.  The porch is a place to leave your boots and shoes and cooler, and sit to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the mountains. There's a table and 2 chairs in the yard, 2 chairs on the porch, an outdoor kitchen with a propane cooktop, a water jug with spigot and metal bucket sink, a bbq grill with some coals in the can nearby, and a unique firepit made of tire rims that is super warm and you can use the grill on top for your frypan and kettle. Keep your food outside, so you don't attract mice in the Chalet. A hammock is added in the summer, The sofa is an RV 3/4 mattress and you can rent my twin blowup for $5;  the chest doubles as seating, the side tables double as a desktop. Solar lights and a lantern offer lighting. The wood shelf, hangers, and fabric bins store your stuff.   Option: pitch your tent in the groundcamp spot near the rope fence (bring tent stakes) - and use the Chalet as your wind-free zone. No pets allowed - carpets... A bouldering hike up the tallest mountain behind my shipping container gets you to the huge firepit up there and the incredible views. Honor nature and the neighbors with quiet at 10pm in the winter and 11pm in summer. Haul out your trash. Have a Magical stay.

I almost don’t want to let others know how much I liked it, as I’d hate to not be able to book it when I want, lol. It was cozy in 30-40 degree nights, no wind inside. Outside there is a porch with small solar lights for night visibility, a unique refurb. tire rim fire pit; a Coleman stove camp with fuel(!), and a charcoal grill for you purists. I had friends over in the main camp, and I went back & forth to visit their camp fire, then hang out by mine.

Made breakfast and sat in the shade on the chalet porch, enjoying my coffee, watching the morning. There is now a wash basin and water supply to clean dishes.

Best for one person, or two people who are close. Bed fits one best, very cozy for two. There is room for a small tent outside.

Chalet locks with a code when you are away, and has a turn knob lock when sleeping. Not needed, but nice peace of mind.

What an absolutely magical place! Perfect mix of remote (the stars here are amazing) and comforts with the flush toilet and cooking amenities. The chalet was cozy and clean. Absolutely will return. Great host. Friendly and accommodating. Thanks Judy!

I highly recommend this spot! The host was very friendly and helpful. The chalet was a great shelter from the wind and rain and had lots of sweet touches inside. There were helpful amenities like grill set up outdoor chairs, access to a port-o potty, sink, and water. The location is beautiful, just at the base of a small mountain with great views. Very close to the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. The space felt private and also easy to get to, and I would definitely stay there again if going to or through Joshua Tree.

I loved this camp site. The property is at the edge of the town of Joshua Tree so it is very private and quiet. It is slightly elevated so the the views of the valley and mountains are extraordinary. There is no light pollution so the stars are beautiful. There is even a private mountain behind to climb for better views or to have a small campfire at the top. It is only 10 minutes to town where there are nice local restaurants / bars / shopping. The park is about 20 minutes away. Everything is clean and well cared for. I chose the chalet as I was there in January when the night temps were in the 30's. It is the deluxe site on the property. I strongly recommend it if available.
