Beautiful sunrises. Lots of space to feel alone in the desert. Excellent proximity to town and JT National Park. Good cell reception. Included: fire pit, chair, picnic table, BBQ and grilling implements (bring charcoal). Occasional road noise, quiet during the night. Clean Porta potty too. Would stat again..

It was a great location. Awesome stargazing and only 15 minutes from the Park. Site was well kept and Blake was easy to communicate with. We will stay again!

Blake is a very responsive host. We have stayed at his previous camping location in Joshua Tree and he was also very responsive and helpful at that time as well. Descanso is very cute and since we had a larger group with more than one travel trailer, he graciously offered us some more space to park nearby. We had a great time, and loved the experience of being surrounded by nature instead of your typical campground. Thanks Blake!

Our stay at Descanso exceeded all expectations. Blake is a kind and accessible host who clearly cares for the land and about your experience. And the site has everything needed to make for happy campers — from the provided amenities and peaceful surroundings to its proximity to JTNP and town. We would absolutely stay here again!

This was a great spot to camp, nice views and not far from the town which was nice as we had forgotten a few things we needed. Blake had provided a few essentials for grilling! Nice place to get away and see the stars. Was really cold at night so we ended up leaving earlier than expected but that’s our fault. Would definitely come back when it gets a bit warmer!

We loved our stay at Descanso! We had all the privacy & quiet we wanted😊 And we had everything we needed, a very clean porta potty, potable water supply, bbq grill with tool set. I highly recommend Blake’s land if you want to camp & stargaze @ Joshua Tree. He was very responsive & always ready to answer all our questions. He was very considerate also to allow 2 kids & 6 adults in our group. Thanks again Blake😊😊😊

I loved my stay at Descanso! This site was very serene and quiet. It was very peaceful to stargaze at night and I saw multiple shooting stars! I highly recommend this camping site to anyone who is in the Joshua Tree area as this place is perfect and there is plenty of amenities available to make a very comfortable camping trip!! I can’t wait to camp in this hidden gem again.

The camp site is really cool. It's very quiet and secluded and clean. Just really follow the instruction going there since you wouldn't really see the sign on the road especially if you are going at late hours. 😅
My daughter enjoyed being there. There's restroom at the site. There's firepit, griller, picnic table and a big container for water.
We went to Safari Zoo which is almost an hour and half drive from the campsite. The campsite is 15-30mins drive from the other hiking spot. It's 10-17mins to the restaurants, gricery and gas stations.

Descano was very comfortable with special touches like the solar lamps to mark the path to the bathroom. We appreciated having both a charcoal grill and firepit available for use.

Blake is a fantastic host. Super responsive and very thoughtful. Loved the campsite. Nice touches such as the solar lights, water, bbq, fire pit and picnic table. Porta potty had just been cleaned. Nice base camp for exploring Joshua Tree. Highly recommend Descanso!

I camped out here with my pup in my forester. My hope was to feel safer than free camping land and be further away from people than a campground, all were achieved here. Super easy to find and the amenities are as described. I backed in to watch the sunset and then switched the car around to watch the sunrise, the views here are unbeatable! I can’t wait to come back with friends :)

What a great little camp spot! Simple, private, & close to the National Park. Gave me and my partner just what we needed in a camp site + a few extras (a lighter, lots of fresh water, a very clean bathroom). Exactly what we were looking for, plus some lovely views of snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Our group stayed 3 nights at Blake's land. We have this huge site all to ourselves, so it's really quiet. As we get up early to do long day hikes, having uninterrupted sleep was important. We don't have to worry about noisy neighbors, people driving in and out of a campground in the middle of the night, or generators running all night. Waking up to the stunning colors at dawn and seeing sunrise right from my tent was awesome! We had some really windy nights, gusts at high at 49 m/hr. There aren't any big rocks around to hold down the tents, but fortunately, all of our tents survived. So come prepared if strong wind is in the forecast. The best thing about this site is that we had a clean porta potty all to ourselves. It's a nice touch to have a battery operated light switch inside that you can turn on at night. Having potable water, a picnic table, BBQ grill, fire-ring on site was also great. There were two extra chairs you can sit around the fire, too. Blake was very accoodating and promptly answer all of my questions. Overall, it's great value!

I loved how the host made the campsite cute but comfortable with a bbq, table, 2 chairs and cute lights! It was definitely helpful once it got dark to have extra lighting and a very clean place to use the bathroom! Very dog friendly site too, with lots of space and privacy.

Third stay here and just as great as the others, even with the cold and windy weather. Would absolutely recommend to anyone especially because it is the perfect distance away from the town center and close enough to access the national park easily

This campsite was great! It was easy to reach yet isolated, clean, and beautiful. Only a 20 minute drive from the park and a great place to watch sunset and sunrise.
