***We are very strict about our family-friendly vibe, so please read all rules carefully ****

We are located on a working farm in one of the last old oak groves in Descanso with well over 200 trees!  Our farm friends include chickens, roosters, turkeys,  bees, pigs, goats, alpaca, and a livestock guardian dog that watches over them all faithfully.   Although the farm animals are all 100 yards away from your site, you may hear animals during your stay here.  Please enjoy the animals from a distance.  We are happy to provide you with a Farm Tour in the "add-on" section of reservations!  They love to have visitors!!

Description of Camp Site:

Get out of the city for some serious relaxing!   We pride ourselves on providing our guests with peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  Lounge peacefully on your private deck at sunset to gaze out over the meadow while you enjoy abundant wildlife and the sounds of nature.

Our meticulously clean 32’ Fleetwood RV comes complete with a living area including a kitchen, dining table, love seat and a separate walk-around queen bedroom.  There is a shower (low water pressure), toilet, sink, and closet space.  Windows wind all the way around for views of the beautiful outdoors!  Step outside onto a wood deck with an 8' picnic table and small propane BBQ (propane provided)!

Our basic kitchen includes a refrigerator with small freezer, stove, 3 burner cook top, kettle to make tea (provided) or coffee (provided).   Toiletries provided:  soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.  T.P, paper towels, paper plates, and napkins will be provided during COVID instead of regular plates.  Silverware and kitchen utensils will be sanitized after every guest.  ******* YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN PILLOWS, SHEETS, BLANKETS AND BATH TOWELS TO  ENSURE THAT WE FOLLOW COVID SAFETY *******

This campsite sleeps a total of 6 people.   We accept a MAXIMUM OF 4 ADULTS  plus children for the reservation.  Sleeping arrangements:  walk-around bedroom with privacy partition has a queen size bed, double bed over the cab with privacy curtains, the dining table and love seat also convert to small beds.  Please return all furniture to it's original state upon check out.  Feel free to bring your own tent to place next to the motorhome; however, we still hold firm at 6 total people at the campsite and tent campers will be expected to share the RV bathroom facilities.  If you have 2 adults and more than 4 children... please let us know in the reservation.

***If you would like to travel with another family and group camp... please contact us to discuss renting out our entire camping area for EXCLUSIVE & PRIVATE use of both of our camp sites.

Communication & WiFi:

We encourage our guests to unplug and enjoy nature.  Come prepared to camp!  We DO NOT recommend trying to work from this camp site if you need internet or phone!  We have a table and chair set up under a tree near our residence  (100 yds away) if you need to quickly make a phone call or check your email.

Location:

*Specific driving directions will be provided before your stay.  PLEASE WRITE DOWN THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE LEAVING YOUR HOUSE!!!   Do NOT USE the directions/map provided by Hip Camp.  You will get lost!  Use the directions we have provided.

***********I CAN NOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!***********You will lose cellular & GPS service 5 miles from our location!!   We are in a RUSTIC LOCATION, down a country dirt road and it is VERY EASY TO GET LOST!

Please arrive before sunset.  Just in case you get lost and to avoid unpacking in total darkness, we ask that you arrive at least an hour before sundown. *Check-ins after 7:00pm are NOT ACCEPTED  May-September.

We are nestled in oaks, pines, and cottonwoods along with lots of shade and some boulders.   We currently have a large field across from the RV where you can bring a football or soccer ball to run around or have a picnic.  There is abundant space to stretch out!    Please just be respectful of the guests at the tent camp across from you.

On your way to the site, you will drive through the Sweetwater River during the wet season (Dec-June).  The riverbed is currently dry and IF there is no rain in the forecast,  the campsite is accessible by most vehicles.  If your car is lowered and doesn't have enough clearance it may be a rough ride.    A seasonal creek also runs into the Sweetwater River down the length of our property (Dec-April).    We don't have a lack of water!

Activities:

Descanso means "Place of Rest".   Our wish for you is that your soul replenishes while you meander through our Cuyamaca Mountain community and arrive at your camp site.

If you aren't one to sit around for very long-  you can hike the trail on our property or hike nearby trailheads.   The "California Riding and Hiking Trail" can be accessed from the road at the back of the property.  After a steep climb up the first hill, the rest is smooth sailing (great to get your heart pumping)!

Our property backs up to Cuyamaca Rancho State Park where premier riding and hiking abound! Bring your mountain bike or horses (please specifically note this request in your reservation in the "add-ons") to access nearby trails. If you enjoy light or serious hiking, there are MANY choices nearby.   We would be happy to give you information on the best hikes or check out the "Afoot and Afield Hiking Manual" that we have provided in the RV.  If you would like to hike the trail around the perimeter of our property, please let us knowIN ADVANCE so that you have the trail all to yourselves!

Camp Rules:

- Be courteous and respectful of the desire that others may have for health, safety, and social distancing during these times of COVID-19.  We only have 2 camp sites total and we expect guests at both sites to maintain 6' distancing.  I'm sure that you will find that there is plenty of space to stretch out without masks!!

-2 vehicles allowed at the campsite

-Please arrive before sunset. We are a RUSTIC LOCATION & phone signal is spotty so to avoid setting up in total darkness, we ask that you arrive at least an hour before sundown. *Check-ins after 7:00pm are NOT ACCEPTED  May-August.

*****Out of respect for other campers and our wonderful neighbors, we have a VERY FIRM  "quiet" time between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.

- We are located on a working farm!  Our farm friends include chickens, roosters, turkeys, pigs, goats, alpaca, and a livestock guardian dog that watches over them all.   You may hear animals during your stay here.  Please DO NOT pet any animals unless you have purchased the "add-on = Farm Tour".  Some animals do not like to be touched and we would like your family to be safe.

-Our bee hive area is clearly marked and off limits to guests.   Please stay away from the area.

-We are a family friendly establishment but we understand the desire to unwind and have some fun.   If anyone in your party will be drinking alcohol,  PLEASE do so with discretion and WITHIN YOUR OWN CAMPSITE.

-We are a no smoking facility.
