Pitch a tent. It is a short drive to Joshua Tree National Park for hiking or climbing. There is a small mountain to climb right across the dirt road from my house. It is quiet and peaceful in the middle of the desert. Not fancy. This is a clothing optional 420-friendly and LGBTQ friendly place.

The vibe at A View of Joshua Tree

David has a few perfect campsites! The one we were at was compete with a small grill and a large picnic table. He is one of the most hospitable hosts I've ever met! He is joyful and truly offers an incredible Joshua Tree stay very near the park.
fantastic camping site for an overnight stay near Joshua Tree. We booked this location last minute and were created by a friendly host (Mr. Knoop). He provided a charcoal pit and a wood stove and made sure we were prepared for our night’s stay. The site is very close to the north (and less crowded) entrance to the national park.
This was an amazing experience! David is a welcoming and kind host. He let us try out the yurt he just built and it was marvelous! We got to sleep under the stars and still have privacy. On top of that, he noticed we didn’t have a table like his other campsites so he made one from scratch and it was large and sturdy. He is such a handy, creative guy! The bathroom was clean and shower was hot. Honestly, it felt like we were glamping! We were super close to the Joshua Tree visitor center and his land was just off the beaten path enough for it to be quiet and dark. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks David!
This is my first time using HipCamp. I guess it is like AirBnB for camping however the system can be much more robust, I hope they improve soon. For this camp, I cannot recommend highly enough. David, our host, is a kind and gentle soul. Good for big groups when the park is full. Equidistant from Joshua Tree North and West entrances. Really appreciate the fire and the fire wood. Dog next door is a bit mean but still a great experience in the desert!
David is super friendly and helpful! The yurt is a great addition to camping options. David clearly wants everyone to have what they need. He asked me for suggestions: a small table in the yurt would be nice. This was a very easy option for an overcrowded park. We loved being able to be away from the crowds!
