Located deep in the Cuyama Valley, close to wine country, and booming local vineyards (1.25 hrs past Ojai and 45 minutes past Santa Maria) our ranch promises the getaway experience you've been looking for.
The Ranch is 85 acres with majestic mountain views and vast canyons for hiking and trail access. During the spring and summer months, the smell of sage and wildflowers fill the air. Surrounded by the Los Padres Mountains and located deep within the Cuyama Valley, this ranch gives the visitor the high-desert experience of their dreams. For the hikers and explorers out there, the ranch offers trails and roads that access different property gems. There is a designated area for tent camping and for RV's, Trailers, Vans, and tiny homes (no electric yet for RVs). The ranch is completely private and secluded, off HWY 166. Fantastic hosts with a view.
Nathan and Ricky were were extremely considerate and accommodating hosts. They provided us with great directions and made this location simple to find. The campsite was exactly what we needed with a quiet spot to use as a base location to explore Cuyama and come back to relax by the fire. You can tell they put a lot of work into the great outhouse and outdoor shower that is available. Even though my trailer had a shower, we used the outdoor shower. Thanks guys and we will see you again I am sure.
Amazing views and amazing host
Amazing stay. Was a little warm but Nate has provided extra shade covers and the nights were absolutely gorgeous. We got to seethe comet with the naked eye. Also Nate provides a sink station with two sinks. He also provides cups decks of cards, hand sanitizer, trash cans, cornhole, hammocks, and mini pool.
This trip was great! Everybody else’s review was spot on. We really enjoyed an appropriately spaced out campsite given the pandemic as well as having our own private toilet and outdoor shower. Nathan was a great host and he and his boyfriend have an amazing set up that’s well kept and super innovative. Can’t wait to come back!
My young nephew enjoyed the petting zoo and we managed to go to the Castaic Lake before arriving as well as visited Pismo Beach during the hot hours of sun.
First timers and pros welcome
Cuyama Oaks is an incredible campground. Nate is so sweet and welcoming. There are so many personal touches. It is obvious he loves this ranch! The outdoor showers and outhouses are really nice amenities and are decorated so nicely. The views are beautiful. There is a market a few miles away with anything you may have forgotten. He gave us fresh chicken and quail eggs. The animals are all so cute! The stars were beyond belief. We saw so many shooting stars. This is a perfect campground for newbies and seasoned campers alike. It is very private and quiet. You want for nothing. I wish we could stay forever.
If you don't stay here you are dumb
Couldn't of picked a better week to stay at Cuyama Oaks Ranch! When we arrived Nathan was there to greet us on his four wheeler with a bright attitude and soon after basil came and visited us at the campsite! Everything was as they described it was gorgeous outside so we were able to take a hot shower with the propane and we did it at twilight so we can see the stars. I would do this again in a heartbeat it was decently priced and this site is probably the most private site out of all of them. Stay here !
Everything i knew hipcamp could be
Read below to hear me wax poetic about experience. To sum up-Beautiful drive into the property, friendly hosts, open spaces, privacy, private water spigot/shower/bathrooms, minimal rules, fires allowed, animals for the kids, shaded picnic table, fires allowed, cute animals, no virus risk, fields of daisies and poppies, awesome hiking, and would allow larger group under normal circumstances.
My husband, toddler, baby and I stayed at Cuyama Oaks in our Class B van RV during the outbreak. Nathan drove out to meet us on on his quad and escorted us to our spot. He explained the property boundaries, gave directions to the private hiking trails, and answered a few of my questions.
I was so spoiled by our hipcamp experience that I'm going to have a hard time going back to regular peasant campgrounds after this. The covered picnic table and fire ring with removable cooking grate were perfect. He even put a nice table cloth and flowers on our table. Neighboring campsites were visible but far enough away that you could play music or run a generator as you wish without worrying about anyone or being bothered by them.
We didn't need to use the outhouse toilet because we had our own but it was spotless in there and zero smell when I peaked in. Outdoor shower would have been fun to use but the weather made the prospect of showering outdoors too daunting.
My husband took a long run on one of the longer beautiful ridge hikes and the family took a "hike" aka .9 mile walk along an easy loop with our toddler. She was in hog heaven which was only complete after seeing an actual pig named basil and a bunch of baby chicks on the way back. This was followed by using the campsite's spigot to water the fields of flowers with her watering can.
I'd love to go back with our extended family when it's safe to gather in groups again. 3 hours from Orange County was a perfect distance to get away conveniently.
Staying on the Hilltop camp spot was awesome. private with a outhouse and hot shower and best part is the trail in front of the camp. glad I brought my mountain bike to do some exploring with my pup. Nathan was great with information and getting back within min of texting him.
