If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Unbelievable!!!! Nate wAs an amazing host and was there at at every need. The property is breathtaking and so are the animals. They do a petting zoo and Nate walks you through all the animals and tells you about them. Ricky was sweet too and he knows alot about the birds. The stars at night were insane !!! I havent seen the milky way in years and you see it bright. Now the tent. WOW!!! its was immaculate and clean and came with mattress covers. We had to bring our own linens which is understandable during covid and we didn't mind that one bit. There is a battery packs and two extra twin mattresses for rental as well. He provided it all!! We had lighters, bubbles, soap, gas grill, hot showers, huge bathroom, 2 lanterns, string lights, salt and pepper and other seasonings. All i can say is this is perfect for a couple or a small family. Amazing stay. It did get warm but they gave us alot of shade so it was fine. There is always a nice breeze. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Incredible views & excellent host
This campsite is amazing. Nathan is a fantastic host. The yurt was very comfortable. We had plenty of privacy, our own bathroom and shower, and even a private hiking trail. Such amazing 360 degree views. We'll definitely stay here again!
Private and romantic escape
Cuyama Oaks Ranch exceeded all of our expectations! We were looking for a quiet getaway just to escape and relax and ended up finding Nathan's hidden oasis. The site is very clean, quiet, and private. The Yurt is a great addition to the property, and made the stay extremely comfortable.
Nathan was an amazing host, who very clearly cares about the property, the animals that live there, and most of all, cultivating a positive experience for his guests without being intrusive or taking away from the privacy of the site.
There's something special about this place. I can't see anybody leaving with anything but positive stories and memories. We already can't wait to visit again.
The site was great - everything was super clean and also really cute - and we definitely took advantage of the outdoor shower, picnic table and sink, and the fire pit. Also really enjoyed chatting with Nate and Ricky and meeting all the animals on the property! They were great hosts and provided great recommendations and conversation!
Amazing escape from the city
Amazing experience would definitely recommend to a friend. Nathan and Ricky were amazing hosts and the animals animals and small touches made this place very special.
Glamping under the stars
We booked this campsite (High Desert Glamping Yurt #7) on a whim - booked on Sunday night for a Tues-Thur stay. We were sent a text with directions on how to find the property. Nathan greeted us at the gate and led us to our site on his quad and walked us through all of our amenities. I didn't realize how much would be provided! At this site, there is a full on camp kitchen set up - sink, two burner camp stove, a gas grill (bring your own propane), a picnic table, a hammock - all under shade. This site has its own bathroom with a compostable potty and a shower. The yurt has two queen size beds, a battery pack, usb-charged lantern, two chairs and cushions just outside the tent with a little table.
There are several camp sites at Cuyama Oaks Ranch and they are all spread out so that each site has privacy. We were the only family for the first night and on the second night three other groups came. But as I said, we were all so spread out that we really felt on our own. The hosts, Nathan and Ricky, are super nice and friendly. They have a little petting zoo with many goats and piglets, as well as a huge pen with many different types of chickens and ducks.
We really enjoyed our stay here but be warned that it is HOT during the day - 100 degrees. We were pretty much immobile during the afternoon due to the heat. We ended up taking a ride (in our AC'ed car) to the little mart in New Cuyama (about 15 minutes down the road) to get some ice cream and more ice (and to kill some time during the midday heat). The evenings, though, were beautiful. We went for a little hike around the hills by the campsite, made a fire for s'mores, and my kids' favorite activity was playing on the hammock - they spent so much time on that thing!
Things you MUST DO - take a shower under the stars. It felt soooo refreshing to do this after sweating through the day. And seeing the stars above as you shower is really just a special experience. We did some stargazing until about 10:30 PM and being the cityfolk that we are, we were pretty impressed with the night sky. But I ended up waking up at 3:30 AM to use the bathroom, and when I went outside the stars were breathtaking. I was able to see 1000x more stars that what I saw at 10:30 PM. I honestly have never seen anything like it. I wish I had a good enough camera to get a picture of it -- I still can't get over that night sky blanketed in billions of stars. <3
We would HIGHLY recommend this campsite. We DEFINITELY want to come back when it's a bit cooler.
We had an amazing time! The site had almost everything we needed so it felt like we were at someone’s house! Nathan provided us with both a grill and a camping stove, kettle, coffee, French press, dishwashing/hand washing station, a swamp cooler, vacuum, broom, mop, spices, toiletries, and the list goes in and on! It was extremely private and we never had to go close to any other site. We had our own outdoor shower and private bathroom, both with closed doors. The yurt has two queen beds with plenty of room and light. There was also a kiddie pool, cornhole, fire pit and chairs. We had fun walking the trails at night along a lit trail. I would highly recommend this space if you need to get away! It gets warm so make sure you bring tour lightest clothes and the temperature drops at night for a wonderful reprive!
