One for cooking and one for social. It really is twice the site. Perfect for an overnight Pow Wow with your tribe.

If you are in need of more sites to accommodate a group larger than 10, you can book the surrounding campsites and have the entire east end of the mesa all to yourself. Just book all the Songdog East Campsites at maximum capacity for a total of 32 persons and have plenty of room to wonder around and visit with your friends.

Songdog Ranch is an incredible oasis of seemingly untouched beauty and vast natural allure. It was everything we desired in a camp site. We brought our two dogs and I think they may have managed to have more fun than we did. We took them on walks to the surrounding peaks that were lined with trails and we explored the entire property as much as we could. It was very easy to walk around and discover all Songdog had to offer.

We booked the "Doublefire" double campsite because the others were booked but it worked out perfect. There was a ton of space at our specific site and plenty of privacy, but the single campsites looked like they had a ton of space as well. Bill was as helpful of a host as you could hope for. When he came up to deliver us some firewood, he was kind enough to share some background on the property as well as some of the surrounding areas. He even gave us a few destinations for us to check out after we left Songdog. We visited Songdog in mid-April and the wildflowers were in fantastic bloom. They were honestly mesmerizing. The only thing that out did the wildflowers were the stars at night. The sky was completely filled and we spent hours just staring up into the night sky.

Any of the sites located on Songdog are highly recommended. Whether you are traveling as a family, as a couple, or you are on a solo trip, Songdog ranch will provide lasting memories of beautiful natural landscapes, incredible star-filled night skies, and a refreshing connection to the outdoors. This place is a gem and we are already planning a return trip.

Another look at all the room Doublefire has to offer. Playing some music by the fire. Roasting some Mallows w/ our dog Pudge. The weather was perfect in Mid-April. Sunny and warm during the day, chilly at night and perfect for a fire.

It's a straight shot down Hwy 5 to this beautiful property from the Bay Area. And if you're headed down with a group of friends, this site will be more than accommodating. When Jim, the host, says Cuyama is like camping on the moon, he's right. It feels like your worlds away from San Francisco or LA. The air is clear, the birds sing loudly, and the views are incredible.

There's a toilet just a short walk from the site, two fire rings, a place to stash your trash, and two picnic tables under the patio structure. It feels like you're all alone out in the wilderness, but if you want to walk over to a near-by site, it doesn't take long. And everyone around is sure to be kind. If you need anything, Jim is really helpful!

The Double Fire site at Songdog was fantastic, we couldn't have had a better time. Jim was a pleasure to deal with and hooked us up with plenty of firewood not to mention a 6 foot galvanized tub filled with water and waiting for us. A game changer :) The tap water has a funny taste, I suggest bringing your own drinking water. But all in all, an absolute gorgeous location, highly recommend.

The site was everything that I wanted and more. This was a great way to get outside and do some easy car camping but not be right next to another party. Jim was a great host and took the extra time to give me the lay of the land. Every camp has access to a fire ring, running water and covered bench. The stars were amazing and I will definitely be coming back.

Some advice when staying at Songdog (besides the obvious of course)
-Bring a couple of lanterns. Preferably ones that you can either hang or are magnetic (to stick to the bottom side of the metal roof shelter)
-Buy firewood from Jim. 3 bundles should get you through a cold night. He provides everything including tinder and fire starter. $10/bundle
-The firering comes with a grill so no need to bring an additional one.
-Each site has two folding rocking chairs so bring more if you have more than 2 people.
-SongDog is about 17 miles away from any gas station so either fill up in New Cuyama or Maricopa before heading to the site.
-Temperature was about 10 degrees colder than the weather station in Maricopa.
-Bring your own drinking water. Even though the site has running water you may prefer the taste of actual drinking water.

Hope this helps! I am definitely heading back to this site and highly recommend it to people who want the ease of car camping but the seclusion of backpacking.

Great spot, very nice host. Stayed after some recent rains so there was some nice short grass on the ground. Make sure to bring an axe and/or enough intermediate kindling because the almond wood the host sells is a little difficult to get going.

A quick drive from LA, but a world apart. This site sits atop a quiet, expansive mesa with nice views and a lovely sunset. No nearby neighbor sites or generators, and enough space to park cars away from the tents and firepit ensures a chilled experience. The cowboy tub, firewood, and water hose are icing on the cake!

It was our first time at Sundog and we had lots of fun! Jim was very nice and accommodating. Jill the dog was so sweet and played catch with us. We would recommend this place to our friends and family members. I'm sure we will go back there again. See you soon Sundog! :)

This place is great! Very private with plenty of space between the sites. We had to cut our stay short for personal reasons but will be back. Jim was friendly and helpful and the tub full of water was worth every penny.

The campgrounds at Songdog were great! Quiet, clean, beautiful area. We could tell other people were at the nearby campsites, but were spread out enough that we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Host was friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be going back.
