One of the highlights here is hiking to a special knoll with rock benches, looking out at the sierras, as far as the eye can see. Spring time is the most magical, as waves of wildflowers keep blossoming, until the heat of summer slows them down. And the forest is green and lush with Buckeye Blossoms. Bird watching is wonderful, as well as other wildlife.

As your host, my intention is to be helpful, to your needs. I live here year round, I teach guitar, woodworking, and do gardening and yoga. I built my 30 foot Octagon home, with help from my friends.

We had such a special time at Crystal Hill Sanctuary. It's a very peaceful place to explore with stunning views and incredible flora and fauna, and there is quartz all over the hill! Be sure to take time to chat with Gary - he's a joy to talk to and learn from, but he will give you ample privacy if you wish. I recommend bringing bug spray as there are some mosquitoes at dusk, and of course a good book, and you will have a wonderful time

Beautiful views, well maintained property, there's plenty to do nearby, the location feels away from it all but still offers easy access to groceries and convenience stores within 15 minutes. Gary is gracious, considerate and simply the kindest host ever. We'd love to be back soon!

Crystal Hill Sanctuary is a beautiful serene campground nestled amongst the hillside of Angels Camp. Our host, Gary Hillman was the most gracious and accomodating host. It was a pleasure meeting Gary and knowing him. He made sure we were comfortable, regaled us with his guitar skills, we shared stories of life, philosophies, and nature around the camp cookout. He even drove us to the local creek for a refreshing swim in the river. On the last day of the camping trip, my car's battery died on me. Gary came through the rescue again and let me borrow his tools and kept us refreshed with home made tea and cold water while I worked on replacing my battery. I could not be more thankful and grateful for Gary and will most definitely be visiting again.

Great place to stay. Gary was welcoming and met us upon arrival and showed us his land and told us about the house and other things he built! It was a great experience since we were looking into also building a small/tiny home.

The last is super expansive and we explored up the hill a little bit as well as nearby swimming holes, waterfalls, and hikes. We loved being able to come after our day to take a quick shower (even though it was cold) and have a running bathroom. The setup was extremely peaceful and serence and we loved watching the stars twinkle every night.

Great, quiet camping spot with fantastic views. The host was nice and it was easy to feel alone based on the proximity of the sites from their house. It was also great to have a view near a flushing toilet.

Gary was a great host. His place is kept very clean and he gave us a great tour of the area, which led to my husband and I going on a very scenic destination hike overlooking the sunset. We did the instant book, which caught Gary off guard when we arrived so please do reach out to him immediately upon booking so that he's aware of your arrival time. The bathroom and outdoor shower were a great plus!
