250 acres hosted by Andrew L.
For untold centuries, the Washo people camped along this river in the spring and fall as they made their migratory trek from the desert plains and meadows to the mountains of Lake Tahoe, following the weather of plant harvest and fish. Many grindstones remain from this era. The spring-fed network of meadows was then developed by Mormon and German settlers to become a system of flood irrigated pastures, which remain to this day as summer cattle grazing.
