Nestled in aspen and cottonwood on the West Fork of the Carson River, Blind Creek Ranch hosts half a mile of private river frontage through meadows and forests. This riverside camp is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts-- exclusive fishing on the property, plus hiking trails through its many meadows and springs. For cyclists, the 13.1 mile Diamond Valley Loop starts and ends at our doorstep. 30 minutes by auto to South Lake Tahoe or Kirkwood.

Blind Creek Ranch is located at the southern tip of the Carson Valley in California, just outside of Woodfords. Originally a riverside camp for Washo families traveling  seasonally between from the Pine Nut Mountains in NV and Tahoe in CA. Many grindstones still exist from this era, and many Washo families still call Alpine County their home.

With the great migration westward in the 1850s, change came to the Carson Valley and the mining worlds along the Emigrant Trail.  The alpine meadows along our property were developed by immigrants into fertile flood-irrigated pastureland by mule-dug diversions. Blind Creek Ranch was homesteaded by German Immigrants in the mid to late 1800s after the gold rush and subsequent migration booms. By the early 1920s, the Wennhold Brothers had built the property into what the Carson Valley Times called in 1924 a "model dairy," which operated up until the second world war. A barn fire, and changing times consolidated the property into larger local ranchers hands, who grazed the land for annually for summer feed.   Currently the ranch serves as alpine summer pasture for local grass-fed cattle.
