600 sq ft 1 bedroom, cottage, private patio near creek, wooden floors with rugs, woodstove insert in brick fireplace, host can lay fire in evenings. plug in electric heaters rest time ( but please not at night, costly...) Full kitchen,, large full bathroom, bath with many windows to see trees. Queen futonbed in bedroom, add'l queen futon can replace the couch when needed. The cute small bedroom has a vintage Oak almost growing into it, and a frenchpaned door to a little stone patio from which to enjoy forest immersion and the negative ions from the creek down below We are a community, so you'll have friendly hospitable neighbors and more hipcampers. The frontyard gets sun in Winter! Here, you can go way old-fashioned, and sip your herbtea, or hot almond eggnog, from your rockingchair by the fireplace...dim lighting...and do nothing. A great decompressing time to gain faith and positivity...heck, this cottage made it from 1940 and think of the great turning it will see by 2040! To this effect, we' ve decked it out with cable modem plug in or wifi, so you can figure out how your skills and blessings can make a difference, or...you can downstream your music and it 's in a private setting so pretty soundproof from neighbors:)

We had a really wonderful retreat at Saskia’s cabin by the forest. She is very welcoming and we felt at home immediately. The weather was pretty cold, but Saskia was generous in helping us with the fire stove and everything else we needed. The woodsy neighborhood is very quiet and the forest is very alive. Saskia’s dogs are the sweetest.

The good- Saskia's property is only 5 minutes off of the main road in Forest Knolls, but feels like its own little forest kingdom. There are 3 cabins on the premise as well as the main house, which Saskia says in pre-covid times is a communal hostel. The setting and location was great for exploring Point Reyes and feeling like you are in the woods while only being 10 minutes from downtown fairfax.

The bad- Saskia runs the place like a hippy commune, which I would normally be fine with, but for the price ($150 a night) I was not expecting a dirty cabin (the person in the cabin before us left only a few hours before we got there and Saskia explained she didn't have time to clean, so there was dirt all over the floors), uncomfortable bed, and lack of basic necessities like towels and soap. I would have preferred just to camp. Now that the campsites are open in nearby Samuel P Taylor State Park, as of February 2020, I would not stay at this cabin again. The running water, shower, electricity, and bathroom were nice, but rather pay way less and just camp in the woods. Additionally there were also some communication issues with the booking and getting the address of the actual location from Saska, which made the whole trip a little more stressful than I have ever experienced before with hipcamp or airbnb.
