Starry Skies
Nice, pretty spot. Lots of trees and animals around. Not very private - campsite is in full view of the road (moderately busy, fair amount of people and cars going by) and there is not any place to pee in privacy, so prepare yourself for that. All in all, a nice spot to stop for the night
Starry Skies
As others have mentioned, there is construction going on at Starry Skies, but no work was being done by the time we went to camp on Saturday, 4/28, at 7:30 p.m. and left on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The only way the construction affected our stay is that we assume the trucks working the site made a lot of the camping ground rutted and uneven.
Positives:
1. Price point: It's comparable to the state parks nearby on the coast.
2. Location: Convenient to Cayucos, Morro Bay, Los Osos, Paso Robles, SLO.
3. Amenities: Port-a-potty, picnic table (no benches), trash can
4. Quietness: There are train tracks visibly nearby, but no trains passed through in the night. The neighbors were also quiet when we were there, and although there are chickens, there isn't a rooster in the henhouse.
Negatives:
1. Uneven ground: Plenty of grassy area with no inclines, but it's been worked up by what looks to be truck tires. Not a lot of flat, even surface to pitch a tent.
2. Fine, sand-like dirt: The ground is a mix of packed dirt and this very soft dirt that easily gets on everything. Camping involves dirt but this was a bit beyond my range of expectation, however it might be within yours.
3. Wheat-like weeds with very sharp tips: This is really only for anyone with a long-haired/furred dog. My golden retriever picked up a ton of grass cuttings and this stuff.
Starry Skies
Great location, but currently under construction. Would love to see it when its finished!

Starry Skies
This was a basic place to camp in a convenient location (close to amenities, Grocery Outlet, etc.). All other camp sites in the area were full for the long weekend or first come first serve (and we did not want to risk not having a place to stay!). So I was happy for an economical place to camp. Kathy was very communicative as well. There were no toilets but you could dig a small hole for yourself, which we were fine with. There are also animals in nearby pens, her horse, as well as sheep.
