Miwok was a fantastic spot! Large open area great for groups or the solo camper. This was my first camping trip alone and I felt completely safe. The only bummer, the campers up above were not considerate of the quiet time, but that is definitely not Chanslor Racnch's issue. Will be back for sure!! Thumbs up!
A fairly private, large spot off the main trail. It shares trees with the Hidden Ravine campsite, and if you have considerate neighbors, won't really hear them at all. This spot was cozy and we felt secluded enough during our stay. Staff was super nice and lots of things to do on the ranch, including hiking and kayaking.
We enjoyed our stay at the Miwok campsite at Chanselor Ranch! Would recommend. Surprisingly there were mosquitos and yellow jackets, so just be aware. When the sun is out it can get warm quickly, with fog it can be very chilly. Bring a variety of clothing. Great places to walk/hike and fun watching the horses stroll by.
All of the sites on the ranch are pretty, but this site is a little more private. It's only about a 5 minute walk to the showers, otherwise has two portapotties close by. You can hear the ocean at night and hike all over the craggy grounds. Amazing views, especially with the sun setting over the ocean. Set-up includes a fire ring and picnic table. We camped in the spring and though it didn't rain, the dew and ocean mist made for a very wet morning -- good idea to bring a rain fly. All in all, lovely spot with friendly staff -- would definitely camp here again.
