The vibe at Upper Mesa

I originally booked for another site but I wasn't aware it would be close by other groups. The camphosts were accommodating enough to put us in this new site which had a lot of privacy. It was on a bit of a downward incline to get there but nothing dangerous or strenuous. It has fantastic views of the land and an amazing view of the sunset. It was close enough to the house where I could take a 5 minute walk to use the facilities (bathroom, shower) but far enough where all I could hear was nature. Every now and then I could hear passing cars and the horses on the ranch but it wasn't anything disrupting. I would definitely camp there again and would try out their other campsites.
Chanslor Ranch + Upper Mesa were beautiful! Staff was super friendly checking us in and directing us to our campsite. It's a STEEP but quick hike up to Upper Mesa, and the views are beautiful (with or without fog).
One thing to note: Although it sounds like it in the posting, there is no potable water or bathrooms up by the site - they are a hike / drive away. Definitely make sure to bring your own water up to the site, and be ok with a little squatting!
We had an amazing time here! Very private, just a few people walked by to get to their own site. We could hear the nature, see the ocean, and throughly enjoyed the site! Something to note: the hike to get there was much more intense than anticipated. VERY steep and about a 1/2 mile from where you park. Bathrooms and water are not close by, so bring your own. Luckily we were prepared, so make sure you are too and it will be well worth the hike!
The views are beautiful but it is insanely windy and exposed. Also not really flat space for tents and no bathroom nearby. Honestly, wouldn’t recommend even though we made the best of it and had a nice time with friends.
