I had an awesome stay at Chanslor Ranch! The camp host, Myra, was incredibly kind and spent most of her giving me a tour of the ranch and showing the different ends of the property. The ranch is perfectly situated on the coast in Bodega Bay with Salmon Creek running through it to the ocean. There is SO much to do here that I’m not sure you could even do it all in one weekend! There creek is great to kayak through (offered) and is easily accessible from the back end of the property. There trails all over the campground so it’s just matter of choosing one to explore! As it is a ranch, there are horses which you have the option of riding through the property. The hilltop camps have a spectacular view of the ocean and Salmon Creek leading to it as well as the textures of the ranch overall. I opted to stay in one of the Tee Pees which also had an incredible view of the ocean from the hill. They have ample parking and awesome bathroom facilities as well. This is a great weekend getaway (or weekday!) for anyone looking for a fun and/or peaceful environment. I highly recommend giving Chanslor Ranch a go!
We loved the Chanselor Ranch. We hit bad rain farther south and our originally booked campground was expecting to flood. Last minute, they helped us get an RV site with hook ups same day, so we could see some beautiful Redwoods at Armstrong Woods and have somewhere to roll into for the night (big thank you to Caitlin at Hipcamp for doing so much legwork for us while we travelled with no cell reception!!). Chanselor Ranch put our original destination to shame! Everyone was so nice and accommodating - offering for us to knock anytime day or night if we needed assistance. And the ranch is breathtaking! We were bummed that the rain started right as we pulled in, and pummeled us until we left for home the next day, so we did not get to explore too much...but the rain is necessary for everything there to be so green and amazing...and we will catch it on our return visit, which we hope to do soon.
