The vibe at CHAMBA'S MOUNTAIN
Places to see near Chamba's Mountain
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Sleep on top of nevada city
Cheri's place is tucked away in the hills above Nevada City. She has two nice dogs and five nice cats and is very friendly. The camping options are just being built out and I am sure will be excellent in the future.
Peaceful stay at chamba's mountain
We had a wonderful time at Chamba's Mountain! The host, Cheri, is so kind, and made us feel very welcome by answering my many questions and letting us set up camp where we preferred. The property is so peaceful, we felt really happy there.
The land is a quick drive from Nevada City (about 20 minutes if you drive slow), and so it's a great basecamp for exploring the town, the river, and the surrounding trails.
There is a bathroom, shower, sink, and stove available, which made it very convenient for us.
There are 2 dogs and 5 cats- all incredibly sweet and curious. It was fun to play fetch with the dogs and wake up to see them curled up at the foot of the tent. The dogs barked once or twice in the night to guard the property against bears and other critters, so bring earplugs if that might bother you. They did not bark all night, nowhere near that.
We had a great time and would recommend this to anyone who needs a tent spot within a short drive of Nevada City.
Convenient close to nevada city
The site has a great view and is conveniently close to Nevada City, although down a long relatively bumpy gravel road. Our cars were just fine getting there though. Cheri and her daughter were very friendly and even offered us ice cream. The dogs were also very friendly and loved to play. If you are looking for a more private site I would not recommend site 3 as it is right next to the house, but some of the other spaces are more secluded.
Great time at chambala
Cheri’s place was very chill and easy to access. She was extremely generous and kind and made sure that we had everything we needed. Was a non-traditional camping experience in all the best ways. Site #1 was spacious and private. It makes a great basecamp for exploring the area.
Cheri was very welcoming even though we made a very last minute reservation. The camping site is nestled in a grove of trees - pretty private - just have to do some raking to make a clear spot for your tent. Her dogs are so friendly and fun to play with. I even felt more safe having them on the property because I think they help keep bears away ;)
The location is perfect for accessing the Yuba River. I would recommend this as a good base camp for hiking and days at the river.
