Nice cozy cabin on a property with ducks, chickens, and lots of cats :) We stayed one night and really enjoyed it. We haven't met the host personally, but she made us feel very welcomed with printed instructions, providing necessary details over email, and leaving bowls of walnuts and home-dried raisins for us in the cabin, which was very sweet (and so needed when we arrived very hungry).
The cabin is very close to the main house on the property, which, as I understand, acts as a bed and breakfast.
This is such a charming little cabin with quite the comfy bed! Definitely opt for the breakfast option--I regret not getting it after hearing the rave reviews. My dogs and I really enjoyed swimming in the swimming hole too!
What an amazing stay we had with Camilla! She is the perfect host and made sure we were taken care of and completely comfortable. The cabin is so sweet and cozy. We had her amazing (and creative!) farm-fresh breakfast both mornings which was delicious, and brought all of our own stuff to cook on the grill outside each evening. The kitties on the farm are so rambunctious and cute! Camilla also gave us a great map of hiking in the area and we had a great trek through the valley to High Pond. Thanks again, Camilla!
We had a great stay out in Rumsey! Camilla, the host, is absolutely wonderful and welcoming - she made our stay. We enjoyed the property which is strewn with cats, chickens, wildflowers and walnut trees. The wrap around deck, fire pit and outdoor tables provided a relaxing area to read a book and have a glass of wine.
The cabin is located close to the main road and easy to find. While in the area we enjoyed some really great hiking (tons of hikes within 10 miles from the cabin) and some lovely scenic drives.
Would definitely recommend staying in Rumsey with Camilla!
Camilla had emailed prior to the day of our arrival to inform us that she would be away during our stay and wanted to make sure we were comfortable with the situation. We were and we arrived to a cute cabin and a helpful, welcoming letter that included multiple contacts for Camilla, should we need anything. She had turned on the portable a/c unit, which was much appreciated, as it was 103 degrees F that day. We quickly put on swimsuits and drove a few miles up the road to a nice swimming hole on the river. It felt wonderfully refreshing and cleansing after hours of being in the car.
The cabin was great. It was clean, nicely decorated and provided enough space for our needs (we were just overnighting as we traveled north to Oregon). Camilla explained in the note that she had recently had the some plumbing done in the bathroom because of a sulfur smell and there was still a residual odor. The bathroom did smell like a dirty diaper, but honestly, it wasn't a problem. We just kept the door between the room and bathroom closed.
The grounds around the cabin were a little run down, it looked like there hadn't been much upkeep, recently. It was so hot and dry, we didn't really need to utilize the outside area, anyway. There are no amenities for cooking, but we had planned to drive into a town to eat, anyway. Be aware, there are not many options for eating that are less than 20-30 minutes away. The 2 closest, local restaurants were both closed the day we were there.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The area was peaceful, rural and beautiful. We slept well, the bed was comfortable and the a/c kept the cabin cool despite the heat. Thank you, Camilla!
Camilla’s place was easy to find and bed was super comfortable. Towels were provided as well as body wash, shampoo that made it a truly glamping experience.
Do be aware that the cabin is located pretty close to the road that although there are trees between the road and cabin you will hear cars drive by etc. For those who are noice sensitive, be prepare to bring some earplugs just in case.
The small cottage met our expectations and we had a great time there this past weekend. We were looking for something that was a step up from tent camping and this was definitely that, with a warm bed and a cool place with running water and a shower. I was glad that I read the other reviews that complained about it being close to the road (it's a stone's throw from Hwy 16) but honestly with the air conditioner running we never heard the cars or were bothered by it, and there was the most perfect pub just a 15 min drive south on Hwy 16 that had the friendliest Irish server/bartender and delicious cheese steak sandwiches and fries that filled our bellies for dinner.
The only cons from our perspective were that there were lots of spiders and webs in every corner so in that sense we had a bit of the outdoors indoors, and they kept to themselves but if you are afraid of spiders I'd be wary of that. And the curtains didn't offer much privacy so it'd be pretty easy for someone to peak in the windows if they wanted but we still felt safe nonetheless.
