Karen & Chris's property was above and beyond our expectations.
Location is perfect, a few minutes away from Pioneer town with gorgeous mountain views, and the perfectly maintained, well decorated trailer was the highlight of our stay in the Joshua Tree National Park area.
Stargazing around the fire pit is a must, the shower area is sparkling clean, and the outside kitchen is very cute and well stocked, with a very good breakfast choice, perfect start for your day.
Last but not least, Karen & Chris are wonderful host, very helpful when you need it, but also giving you enough space and privacy.

Hotel quality stay save for climate control. Absolutely amazing hosts and incredible landscape and view. We went with the intent to stargaze and were not disappointed whatsoever. Thank you so much for an amazing stay and will 100% stay again!

We were on a glamping roadtrip throughout the southwest, and after going to 5 beautiful glamping locations, we have to say, Karen & Chris's land was one of our favorites! We booked the smaller tipi, but Karen surprised us when we arrived by letting us know that since we were the only ones there that night, they upgraded us to the grand tipi! We were so excited and thrilled! We also didn't realize there would be a small soaking pool on the property, so we enjoyed that thoroughly. It was a perfect respite from the heat and we enjoyed sitting in the pool sipping drinks late into the night. We also enjoyed the propane campfire in front of the trailer. Such an amazing experience! The Grand tipi, was, of course, very comfortable and beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There was running water, refrigerator, and there were flashlights to use, and a desk and plenty of blankets, and a sofa. I chose to sleep on the sofa, and while it was short, it was very comfortable too! In the morning, Karen prepared a small breakfast bar for us, including coffee, a variety of cereals, and boiled eggs. All in all, a perfect time. We didn't want to leave! We would definitely consider coming back!

Wonderful experience , Karen Chris ate so wonderful and everything that we needed was there… Coffee in the morning outside shower you name it! We were there for my dear friends wedding that actually got married couple of loads down the road. You able to walk there within four minutes walk to the Rimrock Ranch! What a wonderful experience and I highly recommend to anyone to come over here and explore this place! It’s beautiful. Thank you guys, it was a pleasure meeting you 😉

This place was just what we needed to start off the summer! We took our kids (9, 7, 5 and 8 mos) and stayed one night. They were all so excited to explore the campground which had something to see at every corner. We played with the games, frisbees, and of course the cold plunge pool during the early evening and morning. The beds were comfortable and the hosts were wonderful! The kids loved climbing the tree, who doesnt! The breakfast in the morning was such a bonus - the host was extremely generous with the servings. We enjoyed our brief stop at this town and would love to visit and stay again!

We loved staying at Karen and Chris's amazing tepee! What a fantastic spot and the tepee was just the best, very comfy and quiet, and they provided every amenity needed. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed two nights in the large tipi and we loved everything about Camp Temeños. Karen and Chris have a great place and we felt very welcome on their ground. The tipi was very spacious and luxurious. The breakfast was fresh and good. And we could even cook our own dinner on site. Would recommend this site for everyone.

I literally changed my travel schedule so I could stay here! It's just what I wanted—a little "roughing it" in a tipi, but with a real bed and running water. Loved the outdoor space in particular; the "kitchen" set up was the perfect place for doing a little work or having a cup of tea while enjoying the view. And, Karen and Chris were such friendly hosts. Would definitely stay again.

We had such a lovely time at Karen and Chris's property! We stayed in the Spartan trailer and it was clean and roomy - had everything we needed. Plus, the shared outdoor area was lovely, and the kitchen was well stocked. You can tell Karen and Chris go out of their way to add special touches that made our stay even better, including the continental breakfast!
The location was perfect for going to a show in Pioneertown, and it was easy to find. It was also a short drive to Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley for more food/hiking options too! Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Karen and Chris!

What a special place.
The grand tipi was comfortable and so photogenic, especially as the stars came out. The tipi overlooks a vast desert of Joshua Trees and mountains in the distance, with quails and other birds flittering by (they have bird-feeders set up to attract them, a nice touch).
Our host Chris was kind and thoughtful with his touches -- including pre-building a fire in the fireplace, so all I had to do was light a match. He set up a cot with an extra heated-blanket for our toddler, and even let us borrow some headlamps. Another thoughtful touch was, they provided a wagon that we could load our bags onto, so we didn't have to make a dozen trips between the car and the tipi -- which turned into a ride for our kid! Ha.
I don't think it's mentioned in the description, but there was a nice simple breakfast every morning -- various fruits and granolas, hard boiled eggs, and coffee/teas -- perfect for starting the day. And the outdoor kitchen was stocked with a fridge with various milks and drinks and condiments, that we were welcome to partake in. The tap water is drinkable, so you don't need to pack a ton of bottled water.
We stayed in early February, so it was definitely cold at night, but totally do-able if you have an adventurous attitude. Between the indoor fireplace, the heated blankets and heated mattress, and our various jackets/gloves/hats, we were just fine.
Overall, highly recommended!

The large tipi we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and really was a fairly magical setting. Our hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. We found it to be beautiful country - remote and quiet. We had our three little children (5 and under) and they had a great time! Highly recommended!

Karen and Chris were great host!
The Tipi was amazing, clean, and assemble! My daughter who is 1 was running around and enjoying the space. Although it was cold, the fire pit and heating blanket helped a lot!
I would highly recommend booking your stay here at Camp Temenos!

Karen and Chris’ campsite was an amazing and beautiful experience. The campground has many helpful amenities that made such a big difference in our stay, from the continental breakfast and coffee every morning, to their sweet dog Gus greeting us in our tipi every once in a while, to the plentiful chairs around the campsite for us to sit around and watch the stars. Karen’s hospitality from the moment we got there to when we left was what made the trip even more special, and we really enjoyed staying at their campsite. It was the perfect getaway with amazing hosts.

Camp Temeños definitely lived up to its excellent reviews. We had a lovely stay in the vintage trailer which had the heater and lights on when we arrived to make us feel welcome. Our last day we took part in the generous continental breakfast and had a nice chat with our host. The bathroom was very clean and there was a well stocked fridge as well. Will definitely come back to try out the tipis!

My stay at The Grand Tipi was beyond my expectations! The tipi was very large and beautifully built. It included a heated bed (as it did it quite cold at night), a large sofa, a fireplace, a sink with running water, and even a mini fridge! Karen and Chris were very kind and answered all the questions and inquiries we had about where to eat, shop, and hike. We especially enjoyed playing with their dog Gus. A small and delicious breakfast was provided at 830am every morning. There was also an outdoor shower which I enjoyed after my morning hike. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nature get away!

Such amazing hospitality and kindness! My party of 3 had a lovely weekend stay at Karen & Chris’ place. Accommodations were top notch—a comfy, warm bed and cot in the large tipi, kitchen essentials, a clean shower, and breakfast each morning at the shared outdoor kitchen. Would highly recommend!

Wow. We had just the most amazing time. The pictures don’t do it justice - it’s so quiet and the property is so incredibly cool. Super close to the park, and it’s much quieter in Pioneertown so the star gazing was unparalleled. Karen was SO nice and there were so many thoughtful touches and amenities. We will definitely be back and can’t recommend this place enough it’s really a treasure.

Karen & Chris & Z’s Tenemos Tipi was an AMAZING part of our Labor Day weekend Girl’s trip. There was so much detail, intention and care in their property. What a lovely family and space. We could tell they were artists and creators with such a magical space from the tasteful touches, quotes, outdoor shower, cold plunge pool, living art all around-flowers, trees, structures, art!!! Their daughter, was so sweet as well. A true artist, so generous, her drawings and trinkets brought us good energy and accompanied us on a safe trip home. I would love to come back and stay longer next time - the sunrise and sunset were amazing!!! It also looks like are in the process of completing a really magical Open space dining/seating area for future events/meetings/dinners/receptions/etc. so keep an eye out for that <3

We really enjoy our stay at the grand tipi! Because of the COVID-19, we decided to try glamping for the first time and just connected with friends. The experience was exceed our expectation, we love the place and everything it offered. Definitely will recommend people for this place!

We had a magical stay in the grand tipi at Chris and Karen’s place. The tipi is wonderfully cozy, with heated blankets and a fire that kept us warm despite the cold weather outside at night. We enjoyed stargazing and listening to the wildlife. In the mornings, we were treated to breakfast and coffee outside. Chris and Karen are such great hosts and we’re so grateful they opened up their home to us. We are already planning a return visit!

The hosts were great and the other guest were friendly. We stayed in the RV which worked out really well but we were a little jealous of the others that were staying in the tepees.

Grand Tipi @ Camp Temenōs
Our group had such a great time last year we came back again! Visiting in January is perfect - the days reach mid 70's and the nights drop down to 40's but the fireplace and heated blankets keep us nice and warm. Karen & Chris made us feel right at home - they helped us build a started fire and left out coffee & a light breakfast in the morning.

Just got back from another amazing experience at the Grand Tipi at Camp Temenos. This was our one year return to Joshua Tree and the Grand Tipi after I proposed to my wife in the national park. Karen and Chris are super friendly and welcoming and their Tipi has now become a part of our annual tradition. Always a special time. Thank you again!

Camp Temenos was absolutely great and a very unique stay. The Grand Teepee was so comfortable and had all accommodations you needed: kitchen, electric heated blanket, oven stove, grill, fridge, bathroom, sink.
We had a great time here and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a desert experience. It is very close to a small town called Pioneertown that has cute stores and restaurants. If you are hiking in Joshua Tree, perfect location just a short 15 minutes drive to the entrance of the park.
Karen and Chris were very nice and accommodating- offering breakfast and coffee every morning.
We had a great stay and would go back :)
