Camp Tule Elk is a great place to get away and be in a true ranch experience. With their two bunkhouses and plenty of surrounding land to pitch a tent, you'll love staying here. The bunkhouses were extremely clean and cozy. The ranch has two horseshoe games setup next to the pond, so have some fun game time or relax on the pond deck. Firepits outside offer a delightful evening under the stars, listening to owls hoot and coyotes howl (and the occasional bark from the surrounding neighbor's dogs). The mornings are brisk and quiet. Don't forget, this is a ranch so the chickens may wake you up at dawn. Personally, you don't want to miss the sunrise and all the bird songs that come with it! Get up early, brew your coffee, and sit on the deck with one of the owner's dogs by your side (Yes - The ranch is dog-friendly!) A quick 20 min drive from the ranch and you'll be in the Carrizo National Monument spotting Elk and Antelope in the vast empty plains (and let's not forget, this is prime viewing for wildflower season...especially during a super bloom).

This is a lovely place to stay! We had a wonderful time. We had originally booked the Tacklebox (the smaller one) because the Bunkhouse was already taken, but when we arrived the hosts said that the other visitors had cancelled so they kindly let us stay in the Bunkhouse instead. It was clean, warm, and generally lovely. There are lots of animals on the site (five dogs, a couple horses, eight chickens) which was really fun, and the pond is lovely. We would definitely stay here again!

Really great spot for a weekend getaway. The small lake is beautiful with gorgeous willow trees, and there are many animals to say hi to.

We stayed in the larger cabin and it had everything we needed. Would definitely come back again!

Highly recommend for something random, cool and off the beaten path. For a group of five of us, aged 29-31, it was literally a meet-in-the-middle, 90s kid sleepover nostalgia.

Hosts had all the amenities and more we needed including: Bluetooth Party Speaker, Gaming Console, Ice, BBQ condiments, Fishing Rods, Peddle Boat, etc.

None of us were the picky/high maintenance type so we literally drank and kicked back the entire stay. Even caught some fish in the pond. What?!

Lastly, don’t forget to check out the night sky when you’re well into the evening. Turn off all the lights, step outside, don’t mind the wild breathing of creatures in the bushes, and look up (or out into the great beyond, if you’re in that *state of mind*).

Good times were had! Thanks Host.

This place is awesome! We stayed in the bunk house which comfortably slept 5. We had the pond to ourselves! I caught (and released) 2 fish. A great spot for a quick weekend escape. The offender greeted yes right when we arrived for check in. It was 105 but the AC more than covered keeping it nice and cool during the day.

Nolan and his wife were wonderful kind hosts. We had a small problem with our car and they offered to fix it for us which really saved our trip. They went out of their way to make sure we were safe and happy. The house was warm and comfortable and the outdoor property was beautiful. The Weeping Willow was truly special.

My group of four had an amazing overnight stay in the Bunkhouse to experience the wildflower superbloom at nearby Carrizo Plain National Monument. It was the perfect, convenient homebase to explore this epic area of wide open plains, bluer-than-blue skies, and the intoxicating scent of spring blooms. The house itself is cozy, clean, and very spacious, with everything you’d need to cook a meal. There’s a fire pit and a grill, outside, too. We especially loved drinking our morning coffee and eating breakfast at the picnic table under the weeping willow (!) next to the pond—it does not get more picturesque than that! Nolan also went out of his way to help us take care of a minor issue we had with our car and we were very grateful for that. We also loved meeting his wonderful chocolate labs and playing with their whole litter of puppies! Home away from home perfection.
