#3 Miwok - Large Family Teepee Creekside.

This is a family private owned small campground (16 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. Our hallmark is our family teepee! We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping.

Now that we have a season under our belts we’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe.We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.Tahoe is less than an hour away.We are dog friendly and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers.Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from 10 pm to 7 AM.

We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.

For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores. We treat our guests to s’mores each Saturday and Tuesday nights! The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also adding a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a cool room to store all food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness.

The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up memorial day weekend and down after labor day) for those that want to use the floating devices we provide (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits at our sites for ambience – not cooking (glamping sites we provide one propane tank – other sites propane available on site for purchase).

We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, individual propane fire pits, BBQs, etc. - anything to make it easier for our campers.Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.

Come experience a real teepee. This 18' teepee is located along the creek and is right across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms. It is perfect for the family experience.  Inside we have four thick covered mats and provide a propane fire pit outside.  We provide towels and amenities. All you have to do is bring your sleeping bags. This space will allow 4 in the teepee. If you have more friends there is room to pitch a tent next to the teepee for an additional 2 campers.  WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS IN OUR TEEPEES.

Please note we adhere to a three day minimum of Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day!

Lovely hosts, amazing place and beautiful experience. Couldn't have picked up a better place for our toddler. This place offers so much for both adults and kids. This location is not secluded but very conveniently located close to the restrooms, Lounge area and creek, so it worked out just perfect for us with our little girl. Thanks Laurie and Greg for a wonderful stay. Can't wait to be back.

Great camp site. Lot's of activities available onsite including table tennis, soccer, bean bag toss, and many board games. Nice hiking trail on property. Host super helpful with everything. Perfect location for exploration of the Sierra foothills. We went river rafting and horse back riding. Can highly recommend.

We spent a wonderful Labor Day weekend at Camp Nauvoo. The teepee came with mats to sleep on, a rug in the middle, a basket full of shower towels, soaps and k cups. There was a lining to the teepee that kept most bugs out. There was also a small table with two small chairs. Outside there were 4 plastic adirondack chairs around a gas fire pit, a picnic table and small picnic table for kids. Our host was awesome, gave the kids popsicles, delivered a cooler of ice cold water to our camp. The lodge has every game imaginable and is a nice spot to hang when it gets hot outside. We swam in the creek onsite, played on the field, basketball court and tetherball and took a little hike. Offsite we explored a nearby gold mine, swam at the Happy Valley swimming hole, ate in downtown Placerville and checked out the shops. Would definitely come back.

Greg and Laurie have done a beautiful job restoring this camp to it's former (and now surpassing the former) glory. It is really a beautiful, relaxing place. And they have thought of every little detail to keep guests comfortable and entertained. Our kids LOVED it. We would strongly recommend Camp Navoo!

This was my first experience using HipCamp, and it couldn't have been better. Greg was an amazing host who always made sure we had everything we needed. My kiddos had so much fun playing through the camp: they floated on tubes in the creek; they used played on the swings and slides in the park; we did a small hike on the trails; we played the board games in the afternoon, and we roasted marshmallows at night.

Family teepee #3 was perfect for our family of 5. Inside the teepee was a nightstand, a basket of towels and toiletries, 4 seats, and 4 sleeping mats; we brought a yoga mat for one of the kids to sleep on. This might be the least private site; it’s steps from the bridge, directly across from the lodge, grilling area, and bathrooms; but that wasn’t a problem for us at all. Overall the camp was smaller than I expected from the pictures, but that ended up being a good thing because everything was conveniently close and we are lazy. We had such a good time splashing in the creek, trying out the games in the lodge, and playing in the playground. We aren’t great hikers and we had to quit the on-property trail (too vertical for us); but we’re wimps. I ended up with 5 mosquito bites, which isn’t too bad. Warm showers and a big plastic sink to wash dishes were nice camping luxuries. Greg, the host, was so accommodating and helpful. He was able to supply whatever we forgot at home, and let my kids play with his dog when he brought the dog by to visit. My husband is already taking about coming back.

This was our second visit, first in the teepee. Stayed Sat-Tues over Labor Day weekend.

We had such a great time! Greg and Laurie are just the nicest people and so hospitable. Our kids had probably the best camping trip of their lives thus far.

We swam in the creek, caught lizards and praying mantids, chased butterflies, hiked, played on the playground, played basketball, picked blackberries, played board games and ping pong. I can’t say enough great things about Camp Nauvoo. It’s the best outdoor time for the kids. No tv, no WiFi, no video games.

Our teepee was super spacious, comfy and clean. The bathrooms and showers are also squeaky clean and well stocked.

You’re right outside Placerville (a short drive from Sacramento) but you feel like you’re a world away.

The kids haven’t stopped talking about the great time we had and we look forward to planning our next visit!
