The vibe at Lakeside Overlook @ The Glory Hole
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Great campsite! It's gated just off the highway. Very private and large campgrounds removed from everything else. We had two pickup trucks and 5 tents, still with room to spare. If you want to avoid walking up and down the hill that takes you to the campsite, it's necessary to have a 4x4 vehicle.
The campsite has two picnic tables, a charcoal grill and chairs. Also, if you hike up another hill at the campsite there is a hammock. Unbelievable views, great time! We'll be back.
We came up the weekend after July 4th and we were concerned about the Yolo county fires (for our trip and most importantly for the residents of Yolo county). Adam was so proactive in keeping us abreast of the situation. He even personally checked on the site the morning we were to show up. I truly felt he cared about our well being. We had a fantastic (yet HOT) weekend, which was pleasantly spent mostly in nearby clear lake. The sunsets were out of this world.
We had a great overnight stay at Lakeside Overlook. It takes some effort to walk up the steep road to the campsite, but the wonderfull view and the feeling of privacy is a great reward. We woke up early and went for a dip in the Lake. Great way to start a day! Highly recommend this spot.
The site is wonderful and a great camp for those wanting to cross the road and hang out in the lake.
An added bonus was the two picnic tables, 12 plastic Adirondack chairs, and a charcoal grill on site.
The path from the road to the campsite is very steep so if you plan on bringing a lot of stuff you must have an AWD/4WD car with a Subaru or higher amount of ground clearance. Unless you are in good shape you would not want to hike up the path with a lot of gear.
Great views, lots of space, walk to the lake!
The campsite is private, spacious and discreetly located overlooking the lake. Plenty of space for a few campers with a fire ring, some seats and 2 picnic tables. Walk up the hill and relax in the hammock to nap while enjoying sweeping views of the lake, there's also room to set up a couple more hammocks in the adjacent trees. Definitely have a truck or 4wd vehicle with decent clearance and some guts to get up the hill. Adam was easy to communicate with and very friendly.
I would definitely recommend this site and stay here again!
