I camped on at the lookout point here at Cammies and Canines - by nightfall, the moon was so bright and you would just look out in the distance and see the mountains and it was just incredible. The next day came and I tried to hike the property but decided to turn back around because I didn't want to run into a rattlesnake, so I rode my bike around a bit and went swimming. The showers were only cold showers, but that's great - it gets hot there. Everyone here was so nice and friendly, the dogs were cute and fun too. There was also no cell service - but there is wifi available.
We had a wonderful one night getaway at Kalani's place from SD. The location is just close enough that the drive isn't too far, but far enough away that it was quiet and you could see the stars at night. Because we were the only ones camping we were able to go up to the look out, where you have those beautiful mountain views and complete privacy from the rest of the grounds. Keep in mind--This is not like a regular federal campground, but that's kind of why we liked it. And it seems like Kalani is doing some great work with vets, which made the price 100% worth it. If looking for an easy, quiet getaway definitely check this place out!
This is an interesting space. More of a compound started by Veterans for veterans to train dogs. The cost of 100 bucks was a bit pricey but the quarry campsite was worth it and it is for a good cause. Thank you for your service.
