Our super friendly (and off-leash!) Great Pyrenees dogs can't wait to greet you. Relax on our secluded farm and enjoy nature's best lullaby - the sound of bullfrogs in the evening. Wake up to the original alarm clock - a rooster's crow!  Take a day trip to Black Chasm Cavern to see the spectacular helictite formations, only a 25-minute drive away! Of all known caves on Earth, perhaps only 5% contain helictites, a truly unique crystal formation that twists and curls from the cave walls in every direction. They also feature a nature walk through the Miner's Trail, a journey back in time to see the convoluted marble monoliths that mining operations uncovered in the area.  Spend the afternoon perusing the many local wineries we have available on our doorstep - some only 3 minutes away if you take your car! Take the time to check out historic Fiddletown, we're on the register! Founded in 1849 by gold miners, our sleepy little town used to boast the second largest Chinese population in the whole state of California. Only San Francisco had more! Many remnants of our Chinese heritage and mining past still stand today. The Chew Kee herb store is now a museum, and the Chinese Gambling Hall, Foo Kee General Store, and the Chew Kee Grocery Store all remain.  We hope you enjoy your stay.

California Game Farm
Richard Warren Bohn's campground is a hidden gem! The campsite is spacious and well-maintained, and the views are stunning. We loved camping here with our friends and we especially appreciated the fresh chicken that Richard provided us from his farm. It was a great way to support a local farmer, and we felt good knowing that our food was fresh and sustainable. We roasted the chicken back home and it was incredibly juicy and delicious! Richard is also a great host. He was very friendly and helpful, and he went out of his way to make sure that we had a great stay. He even gave us a tour of his farm, and we learned a lot about how he raises his chickens. We would definitely recommend camping at Richard Warren Bohn's campground to anyone looking for a great camping experience, especially if you're a fan of chicken!

Too damn loud
While I’m grateful that I was able to find somewhere to stay last minute when my original plans fell through, I wouldn’t return to the Game Farm, mostly because of the noise. There’s got to be 50+ roosters at the property kept in individual cages so they can’t fight & kill each other. They start up crowing at about 5am & don’t quit until well after sun down, which is when the livestock protection dogs start up their livestock protecting: barking & occasionally snarling when they find the thing they’re barking at. I’m glad my older two kids weren’t with me as they would have been terrified. The dogs also kept coming into our camp & would not listen to commands. We were at the pond site which, while it is beautiful with the yellow irises, wild mint & other pretty flowers & red winged black birds flirting here & there catching the NEVER ENDING MOSQUITOS was also home to a whole load of bull frogs, the likes of which I had never encountered before, & I initially thought I was being stalked by an alligator. The bull frogs serenaded us all night & all day. All in all: it was not peaceful or relaxing. This was nature at its most noisy and disturbing. Facility wise: there was drinking water you could tote or use a hose to get to camp, a washing machine & clothes line & a (stinky) toilet & shower shared with the farm workers (who were all really nice & friendly as was the host Richard, who went above & beyond to help me out with things. It was just too damn loud

The best spot in California!
This place is absolutely amazing!! The perfect spot for tent camping, a small RV, or even just a small backpack trip. Richard is the best!! He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and let us make our spot “home” during our stay! He was always available if we needed anything and was the most friendly and most approachable host I’ve ever encountered. If you are looking for a beautiful spot to camp, reconnect with yourself away from the city, or to reconnect with nature and yourself, this is the place for you! We will be back year after year, who knows we may even have our wedding up here too!!

California Game Farm
I love the view from the tent camp site I choose, Richard is very friendly, attentive, caring, patient and a great host. I will definitely return to tent camp in the near future. I highly recommend Richard’s farm land for Hipcamp, very relaxing away from the crowd and city noises, the roosters and chickens sounds were fine and relaxing music to my ears, the fact that there is no camping restrooms, was not a bother to me, since Richard was kind enough to let us use a bathroom near his house that had a working shower and flushing toilet. Richard kept checking with us to make sure we had what we need, he even offer a hose to get water near my campsite but I preferred to walk to get it myself from the bathroom faucet, we had a wonderful time by the fire, he had plenty of free wood for fire, I truly enjoyed the stay and recommend his farm for tent camping. FYI, he also went above and beyond for us, since it was sprinkling when we arrive and he let us set up our tent underneath a car port in front of the camp site I choose. Richard is the best host.
