Thank you for making our inaugural camping season a success! We are now closed for the winter season. Stay tuned for 2021 camping updates here or by following us @blackoakranchcommunity on Facebook.

ALL GUESTS AGREE TO ABIDE BY OUR COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES BELOW. We also ask you to please shop for supplies in your own county and avoid stopping in our little community of Laytonville on your way to the Ranch. If you need to go to town, please make sure to wear a mask.____

Back of the Bowl (BOB) camp is located in our well-maintained main concert bowl where we normally place our craft vendors and our beer garden.

The Black Oak Ranch has hosted music festivals on our beautifully 150 acre property for almost 30 years, including The Hog Farm Pignic, Earthdance, The Kate Wolf Music Festival, and the inaugural Hog Farm Hangout scheduled for next year. For the first time, we are opening up our festival site for private camping. Conveniently located just off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County, The Black Oak Ranch is home to majestic old oak trees, leafy bay groves, and Ten Mile Creek which is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. The Black Oak Ranch has an abundance of wildlife including deer, raptors, and our newest residents a family of beavers! Please note: our property is conveniently located just off of Highway 101 and you will hear noise from the highway.

Campsites are on flat terrain and can accommodate cars or RVs. All campsites have shade most or all of the day. The creek is a short walk away from each campsite. Please plan on making your site your own by bringing your own setups, gas-powered camp stoves, etc. We will provide a 6' table and some folding chairs to get you started. We suggest bringing a festive table cover. No wood or charcoal BBQs due to high fire danger. Gas fire bowls are allowed as long as they are not placed on grass (we can help you place them).  Each campsite has access to a private, clean Porta Pottie. We do not offer showers at this time. Ten Mile creek is great for wading and some parts of the creek depending on the year are swimmable. Our campsite hosts will be able to direct you to the current swimming holes on the creek. Fires are not permitted on the property at this time. Kids 12 and under are free. All kids must be counted in your stable family bubble. One one stable bubble per campsite. Per Mendocino County Health Ordinance, stable family bubbles must be from the same household, living unit, or Household Support Unit are limited to six total guests including children per campsite.

We are open and accepting reservations. However, please be advised we may need to cancel and refund reservations due to COVID-19.  Right now we are accepting reservations Thursday-Monday each week, but if you'd like to come on another day please message us and we will do our best to accommodate.

All guests are required to abide by the following COVID-19 Health & Safety Rules:

1.     Guest temperatures and an intake questionnaire will be taken upon arrival. If guests exhibit elevated temperatures or other COVID-19 symptoms at check-in or during their stay, they and the rest of their group will be asked to leave and quarantine for 14-days offsite.

This was a clean and safe place to stay. We had the whole place to ourselves. Easy to find and just off the freeway. There is a cool little pond in the back. The potable water was a great bonus.

The site was great but the traffic on the 101 was a bit annoying. I knew the proximity was close but I just didn't realize it would bug me. Probably better if camping in an RV.

Best kept secret on the 101.

Excellent camping, spacious campgrounds, hospitable hosts, clean facilities, amazing night sky, gorgeous river. The vegetable/flower boxes out of Irene’s garden are also 100% worth well more than the $25 we spent on them.

Enjoy this place before it gets too popular and you can’t book a site!

The directions were clear, host was welcoming. I appreciated the attention paid to covid precaution. I also appreciated having our own porta potty that was clean. There was a big open meadow, so our dog could play fetch which would have been impossible in a public campground with onleash rules. The only downside is that you can hear and see the highway traffic. But if you have a dog or kids that want to run around, and you don't want to go far from 101, this is a great spot.

The host and owner were so helpful and friendly. We ended up passing through the area a day earlier than expected and they were able to accommodate us last minute and late in the evening. This is was a huge help because we literally had no place else to go and with two tired toddlers that’s a big deal! The site was clean, easy to access and had everything we needed to sleep well for the night and enjoy our morning. I look forward to staying here again when we can spend more time. The old oak trees were very pretty to wake up to and the golden field was perfect for the kids to play in safely. It was a nice to change from the crowded campgrounds and mosquito infested forests we had been traveling through leading up to our time at the BOB.

We stayed there for one night in August.
It is a large field with beautiful oak trees. Someone was there to welcome us and show us our site.
They had a total of 4 sites but we were the only one there and it was very nice they had water, and toilets . It s close to the main road but the land is large and the camp is far enough that it didn’t bother us at all. I would recommend to stay here.
