The vibe at DE/TOUR Joshua Tree
If you are looking to enjoy Joshua Tree National Park, but don't want to camp exposed in the elements or splurge on a pricey, trendy Airbnb, De/Tour Joshua Tree is a perfect option.
Doug was on-site to welcome us and checking in was a piece of cake. We had no trouble arriving in a non 4WD vehicle. The space has all the amenities you might need - running potable water, a toilet, fridge, a shower(!), peace and quiet. There's a grill for those to like to BBQ, but bring a camp stove if you want to do more cooking. There's cell service should you need it.
I slept like a baby inside the trailer. There's a portable heater as well as a small AC unit, though we didn't need either in winter. The trailer is humble, retro and cozy.
It's only 15 minutes door to door to the entrance of the National Park - it really couldn't be more convenient if you're looking for no frills lodging.

As soon as I arrived at the location and began to settle in, I knew one night would not be enough, so I easily arranged with Doug to stay a second night. I am surprised how safe and comfortable I felt sleeping and being there given that I was on my own. It’s private enough that you feel the space is yours, but the owners house is close enough for some solace if you are by yourself. The pictures don’t really relay just how peaceful and charming this little spot is. There is a bench/section in the back that was perfect for viewing the stars at night. Another perk, it’s about 8 minutes from Sams Market which has just about anything you’d need. I would definitely stay here again.
Tip: I brought a heated blanket and was very pleased with that decision because 1. It gets really cold at night and 2. There are convenient outlets at the foot of each bed :)

Doug and his family are so kind and helpful!!
They’re place is amazing!!! Great location, breathtaking views of the landscape, a really tidy and cozy trailer.
Was one of the most wonderful experiences i’ve ever had, on a road trip!
Totally recommend Doug’s trailer! I really hope to come back soon!

DE/TOUR was a dream! The location is convenient and the accommodations are perfect, literally a stone's throw away from Joshua Tree National Park. Doug/Jillian were easy going and responsive. The location is relatively private, the 1970's vintage camper is outfitted with just about everything you could want or need with the exception of a stove. I'd also check in with Doug/Jillian about the hot water available in the shower before you go as it was acting up when we stayed. The enclosure that houses the camper offers multiple spaces to enjoy including a few hammocks that were dreamy for cat napping. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back from more desert oasis!
What a great place!...not only is the set up just right - a sunlit vintage trailer with all the amenities you could wish for, a couple of hammocks swinging just under the roof so they're shaded from the sun and/or protected from the rain, a private area surrounded by weathered wooden walls to shield you from any winds (a great place to take a nap or read on the futon in this space). The Weber bbq was clean and ready to use, just right for grilling outdoors surrounded by the smells of the desert and the peaceful sounds of cooing of doves in the bird houses set above the weathered corrugated tin privacy fence cleverly blocking the view to the residence a ways down the hill. The views are sweepingly majestic, there's plenty of bouldering to do directly behind the trailer and the entrance to Joshua Tree is ridiculously close. This is the perfect spot to experience the desert if you're looking for peace, quiet, immersion in nature and a reprieve from life's hustle. Thank you to our generous and tuned-in hosts for providing this sanctuary of repose. Blessings, health and peace. Thank you!
As advertised. Great host,s . I would stay there again.
Cozy and quiet Hip Camp listing in short driving distance to Joshua Tree National Park
Amazing place! The camper feels secluded enough so everything is quiet and you see all the stars at night and close enough to the road so it is easy to get to the park entrance or run to the store if you need anything. Doug is a great host who is available if needed. Would definitely stay again.

The place was great! It was perfect for what we needed. It’s close to Joshua Tree National Park and a quick drive to stores. Doug was super friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
