Site 1 - Baby Banana Slug Farm
A quiet spot with beautiful trees.
We had a great time at this site. Quick drive to Navarro Point Preserve and Spring Ranch at Van Damme SP, but far enough from Hwy 1 to not hear lots of traffic. We could see some neighboring building through the trees, so it wasn't like the middle of nowhere, but no one was in the other tent site and it was extraordinarily quiet, especially compared to a public campground. There was a large building at the top of the hill, and what looked like another building being constructed, but there was no noise from either during our stay. Nearby outhouse and sink with running water were great amenities. Because of the recent rains, we used the tent platform, which was convenient. Picnic table and fire pit were both great, and we paid the extra $15 for a huge pile of firewood, which was a comparative bargain and plenty for a 3 night stay. We did have decent cell service from Verizon at this location. Lots of slugs, some mosquitos, not much other signs of wildlife for our reactive dogs to bark at. Because of recent rains, the driveway from the road to the site was muddy in one spot, but totally navigable in a 2wd sedan. The other tent site (2) had a big spot of standing water, but I imagine that's not a frequent issue outside of rainy season. If I had to suggest upgrades, I say a strainer for the sink drain and a new grate for the fire pit, but we had a great time with no complaints.

Sunset Cabin
Fairy ring of Redwood trees!
Nathan and Shalaya have a lovely lush green property with beautiful redwood trees. This location etched a permanent memory in our lives as I proposed to my partner here. It was the perfect place to propose. Shalaya and Nathan went out of their way to help me with the arrangements. Shalaya sneaked in some flowers in the fridge that I used for decoration of the cabin and told me about possible beautiful spots before arrival. She even waited to show us around the property on arrival. They have 2 unique spots - burnt redwood trunk and a fairy ring of redwood trees. I chose to propose surrounded by a ring of redwood trees and it couldn't have been better. On the tour, Shalaya conveniently skipped talking about the fairy ring and that made the surprise even better on the next day for my partner. The cabins were clean. Kitchen is cute and the bathroom and restrooms were also well maintained. Nathan showed us his store and his wood working projects. We also took a long walk on the road outside the property. Down a few blocks, there was a farm with llamas! True to the name, we also spotted many banana slugs in the area. Nathan and Shalaya are busy setting up another 2 bed cabin and it looked amazing and I hope to stay there sometime. Thanks Nathan and Shalaya for helping me with the proposal and for such wonderful memories!

Sunshine Cabin
Nice Mendocino vibe!
Nathan has done great work on this new cabin. Lovely wood finish, clean and warm. Loft worked great for my son. The surrounding land is wonderful with redwoods and very quiet. Nathan makes you feel welcome and comfortable. It’s a short drive to the coast.

Sunset Cabin
We loved Nathan's Land! The Sunset Cabin was super cozy. The kitchen was super cute and fun to cook in. We had a blast exploring nearby cities as well and enjoyed coming back to a cabin to relax. It was very quiet and secluded.

Mushroom Cabin
Nathan's place is super cute and has all the basic amenities (+ some nice touches) for a rustic stay in the woods. The cabin has a space heater and stays pretty warm during the night. It's also raised from the ground so no worries about getting wet if it's raining. The property is beautiful and feels super secluded even though you're only 20 minutes from Mendocino. Lastly, Nathan is a super kind host - met us at the door even though we arrived at 11pm, showed us how to stoke the fire in the communal kitchn, etc. Highly recommend this for 1-2 people who want a redwoods getaway

Site 1 - Baby Banana Slug Farm
This was a beautiful, quiet, and easy to get to escape in the woods. Nathan was communicative and helped and provided a fire pit + picnic table + a washing station for our dishes which was super helpful. We pitched our tent on a wood platform at the site which was also a nice touch. Thanks for hosting!
