Each campsite at Ascension Ranch offer unique getaways, and Oak Savannah is certainly one of a kind. Drive up to your site, then stroll through the countless oak trees to find your favorite tent and hammock spots, then, kick back and relax! This site is situated in our lower pasture, more centrally on the 100 acre ranch than other sites which provides guests easy access to walk and visit sheep, goats, horses, and other ranch animals. We often have horses grazing around this pasture, offering a one of a kind experience for animal lovers. Just a short stroll from the site, you'll find a gate leading to the many trails we have access to, including access directly to Folsom Lake.

With direct access to hiking, biking, and horse friendly trails that lead to, and around Folsom Lake, we encourage guests to bring all their toys ... think about bringing light weight paddle boats, water floats, fishing gear, binoculars, hiking gear, mountain bikes, and of course your horses.

Great rural spot right next to Folsom Lake access. Wish I had brought our mountain bikes to explore their 100 acres. Goats, dogs, puppies, horses, cows and chickens on the ranch that you have full access to pet and play with. Optional horse rides and lessons available. Ranch is just starting out, a little over a year old, so they’re still working on building it out.

The puppy pen! So cute and friendly. Day on the lake shore! The property landscape. 3-5 minute walk from the property to the lake edge. Privatish cove. On the weekends boaters will park in there with their music so don’t expect serenity. But it’s still a great spot.

What a perfect getaway for our extended family pod during these quarantine times. Ascension Ranch has it all - beautiful land, spread out sites, private access to Folsom Lake, horses to ride as well as lots of other farm animals, and a super welcoming and accommodating host.

After a little mix-up with the booking, Roshan went above and beyond by building out a new site on the ranch for our family to come the dates we intended. When we reached out to see if there was anyway to extend our stay an extra day, she shuffled a few things around to make it happen. I realize this might not always be possible, but it sure made us feel great about our choice to select this spot over any other.

We had two young kids (2 and 3) along for the adventure, and they had an absolute blast. We arranged for a “pony” ride (there aren’t ponies on the Ranch), but riding the great white horse, Chief, was definitely the girls’ highlight. We also got to meet the baby goats and young puppies, and got to say hi to lots of the other animals on the land.

Though the days were hot, the short 5-minute walk to the private access point to Folsom Lake brought all the coolness of the water we needed during the day. Back at camp, we really appreciated having a couple flat spots for our two large tents, and the massive picnic table was super helpful. We would absolutely come stay here again!

My friends and I loved our time at the Oak Savanah. There was plenty of space for out tents and trailer, and we really appreciated the picnic table and trash can. The other sites were far enough away that we had privacy. There is one porta potty shared with the other site that is a short walk away from the Oak Savanah site.

There were friendly animals who came to our site to say hello, and it was fun to visit the horses, goats, sheep, and puppies that also love on the property. We were also grateful to purchase a dozen fresh eggs from the family.

The real highlight of this site is the proximity to Folsom lake. The shore is only a 10 minute walk from the site, and there were not many other people around so it was easy to be socially distanced. We also went on an epic hike and saw bald eagles! We spent most of the days lounging in the lake, which was a welcome break from the heat. Don’t forget to bring some floaties or noodles for the lake!

Thank you for a wonderful stay, Jeff and family! I hope we can come back again soon!

The shore of the lake. Don’t forget your water shoes! We saw a bald eagle on the 4th of July! A view approaching the lake from the camp site

Campsite was exactly that, an Oak Savannah. Really beautiful. There was a big canvas tent at our site that was unexpected but pretty cool. The host said we could stay in but we opted for our tents so we could see the stars. The lake access wasn’t quite what we expected but apparently it was really low so that probably had something to do with. My dog still loved swimming in it. Goats and cows to check out and in the morning the puppies came down to our camp to say hi! So adorable and friendly. I would imagine during the spring this spot would be absolutely gorgeous. If you need a tow (we did after some car trouble that had nothing to do with the site) Hall’s towing was the only company willing to come down the dirt road and drive the 3 of us plus a dog to a auto repair shop.

Ascension Ranch was an a awesome experience! Roshan and company were great hosts and couldn’t be happier with their hospitality. Our little ones had so much fun playing on the ranch with their two old boys. They showed us around and let us play all the animals and toured us around the property. Having the lake so accessible was awesome as well to cool off from the hot summer days. If you are looking for a fun spot to camp and relax this is place! We hope to back soon!

This place was AMAZING! We wanted somewhere more private to camp and this was it. There were 3 other campgrounds on the property: one I could see off in the distance and one I couldn’t see from our campsite. And I couldn’t hear people from either site the entire weekend. The site itself was as described: partial shade and partial sun. You can set up your equipment anywhere in the general site area. We went mid-August and it was dusty and dry which was perfect for us. No mosquitoes or poison oak to worry about. The kids were able to wander around through the trees without worry. The port-a-potty was clean and about a 90 second walk; placed in between our camp and the next camp over. The lake was about a 10 minute walk. It was private too so no need to fight for space. The only people there were the 2 other parties from the campground. I would recommend brining a sun shade to the lake and water shoes because the shore is rocky. The best part about this place were the caretakers. They were so positive and helpful anytime we saw them. They really topped off an already great experience. Oh! And the farm animals! The animals wandered around on the property but never walked through our site and weren’t an issue of any sort. It really was an incredible experience and we would definitely recommend and go back again in the future.
