Each campsite at Ascension Ranch offer unique getaways, and Oak Savannah is certainly one of a kind. Drive up to your site, then stroll through the countless oak trees to find your favorite tent and hammock spots, then, kick back and relax! This site is situated in our lower pasture, more centrally on the 100 acre ranch than other sites which provides guests easy access to walk and visit sheep, goats, horses, and other ranch animals. We often have horses grazing around this pasture, offering a one of a kind experience for animal lovers. Just a short stroll from the site, you'll find a gate leading to the many trails we have access to, including access directly to Folsom Lake.
With direct access to hiking, biking, and horse friendly trails that lead to, and around Folsom Lake, we encourage guests to bring all their toys ... think about bringing light weight paddle boats, water floats, fishing gear, binoculars, hiking gear, mountain bikes, and of course your horses.

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Great rural spot right next to Folsom Lake access. Wish I had brought our mountain bikes to explore their 100 acres. Goats, dogs, puppies, horses, cows and chickens on the ranch that you have full access to pet and play with. Optional horse rides and lessons available. Ranch is just starting out, a little over a year old, so they’re still working on building it out.
The perfect getaway for our family!
What a perfect getaway for our extended family pod during these quarantine times. Ascension Ranch has it all - beautiful land, spread out sites, private access to Folsom Lake, horses to ride as well as lots of other farm animals, and a super welcoming and accommodating host.
After a little mix-up with the booking, Roshan went above and beyond by building out a new site on the ranch for our family to come the dates we intended. When we reached out to see if there was anyway to extend our stay an extra day, she shuffled a few things around to make it happen. I realize this might not always be possible, but it sure made us feel great about our choice to select this spot over any other.
We had two young kids (2 and 3) along for the adventure, and they had an absolute blast. We arranged for a “pony” ride (there aren’t ponies on the Ranch), but riding the great white horse, Chief, was definitely the girls’ highlight. We also got to meet the baby goats and young puppies, and got to say hi to lots of the other animals on the land.
Though the days were hot, the short 5-minute walk to the private access point to Folsom Lake brought all the coolness of the water we needed during the day. Back at camp, we really appreciated having a couple flat spots for our two large tents, and the massive picnic table was super helpful. We would absolutely come stay here again!
Lake access, furry friends, & fun
My friends and I loved our time at the Oak Savanah. There was plenty of space for out tents and trailer, and we really appreciated the picnic table and trash can. The other sites were far enough away that we had privacy. There is one porta potty shared with the other site that is a short walk away from the Oak Savanah site.
There were friendly animals who came to our site to say hello, and it was fun to visit the horses, goats, sheep, and puppies that also love on the property. We were also grateful to purchase a dozen fresh eggs from the family.
The real highlight of this site is the proximity to Folsom lake. The shore is only a 10 minute walk from the site, and there were not many other people around so it was easy to be socially distanced. We also went on an epic hike and saw bald eagles! We spent most of the days lounging in the lake, which was a welcome break from the heat. Don’t forget to bring some floaties or noodles for the lake!
Thank you for a wonderful stay, Jeff and family! I hope we can come back again soon!
