Hold your HORSES offers guests a complete horse immersed experience - The site is located in our large pasture where our friendly herd of horses often come to visit campers for treats and pets. They can typically be "shoed" away out of the site if you need a break, but truly enjoy camping with our guests.

The campsite can easily accommodate larger groups and up to 4 tents. Follow a walking path from any of the tents and it will lead you back to the common area which is home to a rock-lined fire pit and large picnic table.  Nestled in among our lower pasture, the views are of an oak savanna and rolling hills. This is the ideal pick for those who are seeking a little bit of shade, a whole lot of privacy, and walk-out / ride-out trail head access.

With direct access to hiking, biking, and horse friendly trails that lead to, and around Folsom Lake, we encourage guests to bring all their toys ... think about bringing light weight paddle boats, water floats, fishing gear, binoculars, hiking gear, mountain bikes, and of course your horses.

Ready to make this trip one to remember?  Consider booking a 2 hour trail ride - to the lake! Visit our AscensionRanch.org to add this activity to your stay, and learn more about the ranch.

*** We encourage guests to follow "Ascension Ranch" on Facebook or Google to see the latest happenings on the Ranch and see what's going on in-between your visits!

Beautiful property, hosts are extremely accommodating. We enjoyed our stay here and you would too :) Although i wouldn’t recommend to someone who isn’t a fan of horses, as they visited our campsite frequently. All over 5/5 in my book!

Great hosts! Beautiful, private campsite on a horse ranch, with horses just grazing around. A five minute walk to Lake Folsom. Definitely want to go back!

This spot was heavenly. We went in early spring and the flowers were in bloom, the lake temperature perfect, and the trails well maintained. The host were very kind and helpful. The location is ideal for swimming, jogging, biking as it backs up to Folsom Lake. My kids adored the friendly horses and spent hours petting them. There is a nice, big fire ring and a huge picnic table. They also provided trash and trash pickup. We can’t wait to go back. Fantastic!

Roshan couldn’t be more helpful, and we have the very best time on their property. In particular we loved being around all of those fun, silly horses. They added a really lovely element to our camping experience. Being so close to Folsom Lake was a huge treat for our kids. Lastly, the seclusion and amenities of the site just can’t be found anywhere these days. Wonderful! Go!

Such a great experience, rode our bikes from Sacramento and they picked us up in their truck so we didn’t have to walk the dirt road. Lake access was beautiful, and private, I recommended several friends already! Can’t wait to go back!

Huge private property! Friendly/socialized ranch animals. Minutes from Folsom lake. Being able to order firewood is a great perk (a large amount was provided). The host was so helpful and informative. My family will be returning. I’ve used hip camp before and this place was truly a unique experience because of the massive size of the property and the horses, definitely made a good choice, and I am so in awe of this cool space Roshan and her family have created. *ask the host about a horse ride*

What an escape! Awesome spot to get away from it all and play at the lake. Hosts were top notch, site was clean, big, and private (aside from the animals : ) which our daughter loved). We even had the opportunity to have our daughter ride one of their horses, an unexpected and epic treat! Highly recommended.

Lake is a short walk from the campsite. Bring closed toes shoes because the walk involves some tall grass. I dragged a 10ft kayak on wheels down there, its a gentle slope.

As with nearbye peninsula campground, bring bug spray, there are a few, but not a ton, of mosquitos in the evening.

Roshan and her husband were excellent hosts. They and their property far exceeded our expectations and I cannot recommend "Hold Your Horses" enough. The site was clean, resting in an open yet private pasture. Interaction with the horses was simply amazing. I recommend putting everything away or into a closed container at night and before heading to the lake for the day, they're very curious and will pick up anything that catches their eye. They were a great addition to the experience, as well as the lake, beautiful oak trees and of course the hospitality. We can't wait for our next visit!

This place was perfect - private, clean, on a beautiful horse ranch on Folsom Lake. The horse ride was idyllic, the hosts were amazing and got the special surprise perk of getting to play with a litter of new puppies. Can’t wait to come back!
