Windridge is open to all campers- tent, car, under the stars; but it's also the only spot to book for a larger trailer or RV. This is a bare-bones dry camp with no natural shade and exposure to wind, so check the forecast before committing to an early arrival in mid-late summer.

The great thing about Windridge is the VIEW! It's by far the best on the property and the first site I developed when I bought the place. Nearly 360 degrees of mountains, valleys, oak studded canyons, and the Lebec commercial district looking like a toy village below. By day the skies are alive with amusing crows, majestic red-tail hawks and falcons, and a huge variety of other birds. Sunset and twilight are almost always colorful, and the night sky is filled with constellations and the milky way that city dwellers forget exists. Excellent site to book during meteor showers like the Perseids. Also at night, if you hear small animals around you start chittering, look up and you'll probably see (but not hear) the resident owl.

The camping area is a level spot with a berm around 3 sides to offer some wind protection and camouflage. It's tapered to allow some flexibility in orienting your rig for best view or space on the curb side as needed. Next to this is a level area with a picnic table. The site is on a T-shaped access road so whether you prefer head or back in, you can probably line up your rig to get in and out in just one 3-point maneuver. Small trailers like teardrop/tent and Class B camper vans should have no problem. Bigger rigs like a canned ham or Class A/C moho, I recommend drivers with solid experience off pavement, backing, climbing/descending steep grades in low gear. That said, I used to drive my 28' Pace-Arrow much more challenging places.

Your dogs are welcome at Liron Ranch, just beware there are predators in these hills so keep the small ones close and safe. There is a network of trails all over the mountain for hiking.

It’s right on top of a hill, miles away from anyone. No mod cons, no frills, just what we wanted. Oh, and a great view of the comet.

Glad you enjoyed it and that's a great comet photo! The best campers I never met, must have missed each other by 30min Sunday morning. Took only pictures, left only paw prints. Will be glad to host you again any time.

Very secluded campground near Los Padres. Good spot for a last-minute getaway. Nice views all around. Art was very good at communicating,
