Sweet pocket in the rolling hills
It was very cool. Our first Hipcamp outing. We had the place to ourselves. We were 3 adults and 2 10 year olds and a dog. One vanagon and one tent. The approach is a little surprising- you drive right past Michael’s house which feels a little intrusive, but he is cool with it. He meets you down at the camping spot and explains everything. Really nice to cook and hang on the Leeds on the pond. The kids were totally into the ducks and the frogs. Frogs are crazy loud for a while and they settle down around bedtime. We really felt comfortable and had a blast playing our music and being our goofy selves. We spent the day down at San Simeon Bay and the drive to and from was about an hour.
We loved our stay at Alviso Vineyard! The site is lovely as you camp by a pond and you are surrounded by grape vines. We were also able to pick apples and table grapes which was a nice treat. We loved watching the ducks as they were entertaining. We felt welcome and the hosts were great!
Beautiful setting & fantastic host
This was our first Hipcamp experience and it was great. Michael was always quick to respond with answers to questions prior to booking and his vineyard was a beautiful place to spend a weekend. He had someone meet us at the main road to help us navigate to our site and give us the lay of the land. Michael was helpful with great recommendations and ideas for things to do in town and took great care of us while leaving us to ourselves to enjoy the property.
Perfect stay and would encourage anyone on the fence to book!
The perfect little vineyard
The vineyard camping is the best place that I have stayed at so far with our travel trailer. It is secluded and since we went throughout the week, we had the entire vineyard to ourselves. The pond that you stay around is beautiful and there are ducks that live there. There is a dock with a fire pit that is wonderful at night time. There are some late night winds that came by when we stayed in October, so make sure to have plenty of warmth. Michael was wonderful and gave us plenty of privacy in our stay. Best place to stay, hands down
Very idyllic site in the middle of a vineyard. Clean porter-potty. Three dogs that where friendly and well behaved. Michael's mom greeted us and showed us the site. She was very nice. We had a great time.
Vineyard camping experience
Michael was a great host. Camping in and around the vineyard was a unique experience. The pond made for a nice touch, and the trees provided a natural shade. Lots of nice sounds of wildlife going on. We stayed in a tent and the area was nice and flat. The dirt road was easy to get in and out in a 2WD crossover.
Peace in a pandemic
Very idyllic location...nicely separated from the residences, and protected from public intrusion. It was a welcome alternative especially during the pandemic closures of state and federal campsites and parks. Great to be outside with the frogs and ducks to entertain the kids. A few notes: The provided water is "raw" well water...not sure if it is potable, so we used it only for cleanup and if boiled (so you may want to bring plenty of your own drinking water). Also the fire pan is very small and not really suitable for cooking over. Those two items aren't complaints at all, just want to help future visitors to this lovely peaceful glen.
