This was better than we could have ever guessed. I don;t want to spoil the surprise but it has inspired me to see that places like this are out there for us to discover. Perfect camping and community. I hope to be able to share a homestead this generous and enchanting with the world one day. Until then, I'll just keep going back to visit.

This is a very special place! Definitely a unique, unconventional camping experience, in the best sense. The hosts are super chill and extremely generous. Just expect to come, help yourself, find a place to pitch your tent and enjoy the tranquility of the land and the lull of the ocean. My wife and I spent our wedding anniversary camping here and had a wonderful experience! (The five-minute private walking trail to the beach is definitely a highlight!)

Amazing spot. The tent sites, tipis, and outdoor bedrooms are just the tip of the iceberg - our visit also featured goats, chickens, puppies, the soothing sound of the creek, an easy walk to the beach, and of course a full view of the stars undiluted by ambient artificial light. The shared kitchen is well-stocked, the composting toilets are much more pleasant than the typical campground toilet, and the hosts were present, helpful, and interesting to talk to. Fellow campers were also a nice bunch. We're looking forward to our next visit.

Such a special place, David was a great host as the owners weren't there. Met cool people, ate good food, close to beach, creek to explore, waterfall near by. Will definitely be returning one day :)

We really enjoyed our time at A Place to Camp. It was a perfect location to have a weekend of digital detox off grid. Our hosts were friendly and open, the other guests were also friendly and kind. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our little corner of the camp site, walk to the beach and short drive to Sand Dollar Beach. We will definitely go back for another visit.

We had a wonderful weekend camping here. The property is beautifully situated in a valley with a rushing stream down the middle. There were a few aspects of the site that needed some attention to make the experience a bit less sloppy. The toilets needed attention and a proper seat, and there are hoses and wood construction piles in many places. The delightful dogs and cat that roam the property are perfectly friendly, but are also allowed to dedicate anywhere.

I bring up these criticisms because this camp could really be top notch. We were still comfortable, had a lovely time, and you can't beat the location! Big Sur is a magical place.

This was an awesome location in Big Sur! Great place to camp if you have a dog - everyone seemed laid back and comfortable with the several dogs roaming around off leash. Make sure you check the bottom of the site's map when you get there for directions to the trail that leads to the ocean. We're used to backpacking, so we didn't actually need anything from the hosts, but they've got a great outdoor kitchen set up with everything you might need (byofood, of course).
