Sawmill Ridge was the perfect campsite on our way to Ozark National Forrest. Grant was a superb host—kind, helpful, and generous. The site was clean and easy for us to use. The property was large and private, with a small fire pit and single seat bench. We brought our dog with us who got along well with Grants three sweet dogs. We hiked up and down the road as well for pictures and a nice quiet stroll. Highly recommended.
This spot was exactly what we were looking for. Easy to get to off of I-40 and secluded/private camping on a beautiful property with some hiking and land to explore within distance of the site. Grant is a great host!
If you are looking for a private quiet camping spot away from the crowds this is it. There was no noise or light pollution of any kind, only the sound of nature. The site is really well kept and Grant has even provided water and a box full of things you might need (paper plates, tissues, etc...). We only got to meet Grant later in the evening but he was really friendly and helpful. The recommendation I would give you is to go in Spring, Fall, Winter. It was very hot and humid last weekend :-).
Sawmill Ridge is SUCH a hidden gem! I honestly was not sure what to expect while passing through Arkansas on our trip, but upon driving into this site, we were wowed by the peaceful setting and gorgeous space that was cleared to set up camp in. Grant greeted us upon arrival and showed us around the vast piece of property - with fire pit area, open air "outhouse" tucked into the trees, and loads of land to pick from for your tent, this is truly a little oasis out in the "middle of nowhere" (to us at least!). This was also an obvious choice for us, being on I-40 almost all the way across the country - it's not too, too far off the highway but feels like you're a million miles away from it all. I would absolutely recommend this site to anyone looking for quiet night of camping out in the Ozarks!
Grant was a great host and was so accomodating. He showed us the property, where the trails were, and even offered to be our guide! There was plenty of firewood for us. This was such a beautiful piece of property! Private and convenient. His two dogs were super sweet and played with our dogs and watched over our campsite. Excellent fields for star gazing and sunset watching. Highly reccomended!
Grant is a great host! He told us about a climbing area 3 miles up the road called Ferngully and it was beautiful. Even if you're not much of a climber the landscape is awesome. The whole group wants to return someday.
We even had a bit of stormy weather and Grant let us know we could feel free to use his basement if it got too bad.
I think it has more to do with the amount of rain we have had this year, but there a few ticks, but I wore bug spray the entire time and didn't find a single one on me! Just make sure to check and wear your bug repellant.
Excellent, excellent stay!
