The vibe at JB Trading Platform Tents
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
If you want to camp in the Ozarks near the Buffalo River, I highly recommend staying at JB Trading Co. for a great and comfortable stay. Jeff is such a great host and his staff is very kind. He was extremely accessible to contact and made sure we found his campground; when we arrived, he showed us which trails, waterfalls, and hikes were nearby. In addition to the safari tents, JB Trading Co. has a gas station and an outdoor gear store to purchase food, all types of fuel, and supplies. The gear shop carries a variety of premium brands and even has a little deli inside with tables and outlets.
The campground bathroom is next level! It’s kept very clean, and you can pay for a nice hot shower with quarters. You almost feel like you’re walking into the bathroom of a hotel instead of a campground! There’s also a utility sink available to do your dishes and refill your water bottles.
The tents are sturdy, spacious shelters set on platforms to provide you a deck. You also have your own grill and fire pit (firewood is available for guests). On top of all that, Jeff lent us camp chairs, a mini fridge to preserve our food, a foldable table, and comfy cots to sleep on (All these add-ons are available to rent upon request). Best of all, the location is prime because you aren’t far from kayak rentals, hikes, Horseshoe Canyon Ranch climbing, the Buffalo River, and the Ozark forest.
I stayed two nights at Thanksgiving week with my wife and a friend. Jeff was amazing. He gave us hot water for our Korean noodles and he also warmed up our cookies. Everything was beyond expectation and the washroom/shower room were the world best. Thanks, Jeff!
The campground, store and facilities were well maintained and highly recommended for anyone to visit. My only bother was, I reserved for P6 and upon arrival we find out it has been double book. Even though we were the group to arrive first we were placed in P4. It was a bit of a joy kill since the isolated area is what sold us. Double booking can be a buzz kill to a trip.
We had such a great time at JB Trading Co! Such a great area at the top of a mountain in Arkansas that is super close to the buffalo river and so many hikes! The platform tent was huge and can easily fit 4 plus people. We had the cabin back in the woods and it was a great secluded area that also was nice with the head because it was in the shade! There is power in the tent and a nice grill and table right out front. If you forget something there is a good chance what you need is provided in the store. We also went on lost valley trail which is right down the hill and is a easy hike that most people can do with a great waterfall and amazing caves that you can crawl in. We had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this stay!
We loved this campsite! It was everything we could ask for. The guys were super helpful and let us know about the trails around, and offered to help us start our fire. We will definitely be coming back. We absolutely loved it!
Everything that is good exists here. Our first time here we brought a tent and found out site was next to a small pond and had all the basics. We planned for traditional camping. Little did we know this is a place that also has a great, I mean great front office which just happens to be a gas station, supply store, and meal spot.
We’re from the Dallas area so getting two night in when leaving on Friday after work is tough.
BUT after our first night of Saturday camping and returning Sunday we realized we could take advantage of this place to maximize our time outdoors.
The place has a few platform tents set up with power that you can literally just walk into. Because of the supply store and meal spot, you can also minimize how much you’re lugging around.
Our second time around we went for a platform tent and packed a small cooler.
Got in late and went straight to bed. Woke up in perfect weather. Walked up to the front office and had biscuits and gravy with coffee. Went straight to hiking.
JB also has their own direction cards to area hikes. They really put in the effort to be a place where you can base from and have a great time.
The staff is awesome. The owner, Jeff, was around on Saturday morning when we got breakfast, and we got to chat with him for a bit.
That morning visit we picked up hot dogs, charcoal, and buns for dinner to cook in the dedicated grill for each platform tent.
We could really keep going but man! The take away is this place is great. It’s secluded enough to get away. It’s equipped enough so you can rush and forget something. If you’re a few hours away and want get away for the weekend... do it! And don’t worry about packing too much. Just grab your essentials and get outside!
JB trading will take care of the rest.
