The market operates on Saturdays, when hot lunches are often served, but it is open on a self-serve basis the rest of the week. Petit Jean State State Park is a very short drive, with spectacular hiking trails, a CCC-built lodge and restaurant, and a lake.
Campers are welcome to use the fire pit, grill, and trampoline, and they have access to the half-bath in the barn. They're also more than welcome to help Ed with the chores : )

We had an absolute blast at Petit Jean Farm Orchard!!!! Would and have already recommended this place to everyone I know! Ed the owner is one of the most amazing and kind people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
We kind of just happened upon his posting when looking for a campsite to stop at along our roadtrip to the Ozarks, and boy was it a blessing! Not only were there so many fun animals (sheep, a donkey, and even a neighbor's dog one day!) on the property and great views near by (Petit Jean State Park), but Ed has created the most perfect safe haven on his property.
He has an honor system farmers market in his barn filled with delicious goodies, treats, and great gifts. On Saturday's it is supposed to be filled with fresh produce and all the locals socializing... we missed it just barely on our trip, so we have decided to stop in again on our way back! That's how much we loved it here!
I have to mention again how great of a host Ed was to us. We arrived late at night, and he stayed up to make sure he could greet us when we arrived and help us get acquainted with the property and settle in. He made sure to test the waters and see how much we really wanted him around us, so he wasn't a bother... We enjoyed him so much that we made an effort to get to know him and his property a bit, and that was probably the best decision we made.
Ed is a wealth of knowledge about his land, the people around it, and just everything in general. He has a passion for hot air balloons and even invited us to an event he's putting on in the future! He is clearly everyone's favorite neighbor because all day long people were stopping in or calling on him for all sorts of reasons!
Community is the emphasis here, and we think that is what has made this place so great. If you are looking to spend your time all alone or to get pampered or "glamp" then this is not the place for you, but if you are down for an adventure, new friends, and a story or two you will love Petit Jane Farm Orchard and its lovely host Ed.

This is a fantastic place. Ed is an excellent and gracious host. A very chill place to camp. The honor system Farmer's Market is very cool.
Highly recommend.
Ed was a wonderful host! He was very accommodating of my late arrival. My dog and I will definitely be staying here again when we come to town!
Had a marvelous stay. This was a sleep stop during a road trip, my only regret is that i couldn’t stay longer. The hospitality was exceptional and the location was stellar.
Very nice space to camp. Ed is a good host. The sheep bleating in the morning made it that much more special.
This camp site was wonderful, located on a remote little farm. The host, Ed was more accommodating than I could have imagined, very genuine and kind. The farm has sheep and bunnies that were very adorable. When we came to visit it was rainy which left a beautiful fog and mist in the air making it that much more private. Wish we could have stayed longer, 10/10 would recommend! Thank you so much, Ed!
Loved in every way! We got in on a late and foggy night, and Ed was so hospitable and kind. Instantly felt at home. The farmers market is based on trust most of the week— it’s unmanned and a “take some honey, leave some money” honor system. Woke up in the morning, made some coffee, cuddled some bunnies, and then we left for the next adventure. Thanks Ed for all you do!
