Enjoy a forested nook at the bottom of Bluegill Hill, at Lake Greeson in SW Arkansas, with sliding scale priced* extras available on-site, such as firewood, fresh eggs, 12 volt power pack with fans, and more! This primitive campsite offers total privacy with lots of shade within a young forest of mostly oak and pine trees.  There is an area that has been leveled for your tent, or van/trailer, and the remainder of cleared campsite is barely sloped enough to allow a ball to roll.  Above the campsite area and below it is a little bit more of an incline.  This is a perfect part of the hill to accommodate a campsite and I think you're going to love it!

There are two hiking trails that lead to the lake and both require only a few minutes of walking.  Kitty Cove trail is the shortest walk, about 2 or 3 minutes, and leads to a secluded cove with two islands.  It is very unlikely that you will come across anyone else along the banks of this cove.

Bennett Cove trail takes about 4 minutes to walk and joins into a road from a small neighborhood of vacation cabins (and very few full-time residents), so it is possible that the area might have a few friendly folks enjoying the lake.  It is a great area to swim and sunbathe on the shale shoreline.

At dawn, nature wakes up and the songbirds sing, occasionally crows visit, and I also have chickens at the top of the hill.  My roosters have a powerful voice but the ridge above the campsite and the trees do a great job of deflecting and muffling the sound.  The most unnatural sound will be from the occasional semi-truck traveling along the highway.  It's a small highway, not a main thoroughfare, and they rarely transport on weekends.  All areas along the northern edge of Lake Greeson are close to the highway, luckily Fox Nook is one that is tucked pretty well into the forest but it's not immune to the sound of the occasional weekday semi-truck.  By 10 a.m. the breeze picks up from the south and helps push back any highway noise.

This area is safe but if you prefer the buddy system for a swim, hike, or paddle, feel free to call on me and I'll join you, if I'm able to.  I regularly take my dog, Lily, for a late afternoon swim, so chances are good that I'm going anyway.  I assume guests enjoy privacy, so I usually take her to Bennett Cove.  If you would like to have us nearby at Kitty Cove, Lily would love to swim laps around the islands and I'll likely search for driftwood or catch some fish.

*Price for extras is based on what you think is fair, how much you use, and/or can afford. Suggested prices range from $2-$7 per bundle, day, etc.. Further info is available at campsite, such as Venmo and Paypal, as well as a small box for cash.

Booking price already includes all applicable taxes for state sales and local tourism.  Thank you for visiting Arkansas, the Natural State!

Charles is a gracious and communicative host, and overall just a very nice guy! I would recommend the site to anybody. It was exactly as described. The land is that green-brown rural Arkansas terrain, with nearby potable water, well marked spots... and he’s got some beautiful chickens. I didn’t do my legwork in prepping for rain, and Charles was kind enough to help me stay dry! He also sacrificed a clean outfit to help me push my poor Camry out of the mud. Daisy natl park and City Park are just a short drive. I would definitely stay here again!

Fox Nook was more than described! The site is in a secluded oasis of Forrest. It looks downhill into the woods, and you can see lightning bugs fill up the area at dusk. The only critters we noticed were song birds. Our dogs loved the chance to run through the trees, able to stay in sight because of the hill. The tent pad area is nicely level off and pretty clear of rocks. The access to the trails was great. We didn’t have service, and later noticed that Charles had checked in just to make sure, which I found kind. Charles is great and easy to talk to; he also provided extremely clear instructions. The firewood bundle was perfect, and there’s plenty around to gather. Also, the drinking water access was nice, but a bit of a walk (as described) and we were glad to have brought a water cube to fill which lasted our whole stay. It had everything we needed, and our car was a minute walk away All in all, we had a great time and wished we could’ve stayed longer!

Chuck was a great host. He was kind and volunteered to meet our every need. The campsite is secluded and is as cute as pictured. Our favorite part of the location was the two trails to the lake. Bennet cove was the perfect swimming beach, and my group spent most of our days there. I highly recommend this campsite and Chuck as a host!

This was a wonderful place to stop on our drive from DC to Austin! The campsite and surrounding land were simply gorgeous, and the nearby lake (about 5 minutes walk to Bennet Cove was warm upon entry with cold currents below and a great place to relax. This small cove is tucked with a small, rocky beach, and shady nook where you can hang a hammock and have a beautiful lake vista in the shade while others swim in the water or enjoy the sun in either the rocky or sandy area! There was also a fire ring there for lakeside smores!

The campsite is accessed conveniently off route 70 and tucked in the woods behind Charles' homestead which consists of his home, chicken coop with free range black as night chickens, chicks, and roosters, garden, as well as a vintage 1960's stlye motel (no longer in use) but formerly the Fin and Feather motel. A very cool welcome as you turn in. Wind around into the woods and park right near the campsite. The campsite has a fire ring, table and chairs, and very private. Easy walk to the meadow area where there is a clearing with potable water.

Charles was such a great host, a genuine and earnest host who is kind and accommodating. He provided wood for the campfire and we texted him asking if he had any ice and he very kindly assisted with 2 frozen containers of ice - saved our food source! He also provide a spot where we could charge our phones. He was able to help us out with lending some supplies for a repair we needed to make on our camper (we ended up being pretty needy, but he never once made us feel we were bothering him). Charles showed us chicks that had just hatched that day--in fact, the chickens in general are quite beautiful! The campsite was a very cozy spot and had an abundance of both sun and shade, it also felt very tucked away while also easily walkable to trails, the lake, and the pottable water source.

Fox Nook was perfect! Primitive, secluded, and all to ourselves. The fireflies, birds, and toads provided all the entertainment my sons and I need when we’re camping. Lake Greeson was a short, wooded stroll down the hill to a great swimming and fishing spot. This is a beautiful part of Arkansas and Fox Nook is a gem.

Charles should get 6 stars- excellent communication, site was as advertised and he went above and beyond helping me navigate some concerns I had. The site is close to some great hikes and a private beach is just a short walk away. Will 10/10 come back.
