High Lonesome Vineyard is located about 20 miles southeast of Tombstone, Arizona and 8 miles west of Elfrida, Arizona. You can easily commute to Tombstone to see the legends of the old west or drive on over to Elfrida/Gleeson area and see the old mining ghost towns. If active mining is your thing, visit Bisbee which is only 25 minutes away.
Also, with a working cattle ranch nearby, take the opportunity to visit and see the daily workings of one of southeast Arizona's biggest ranches. A visit to the ranch is for a nominal fee and subject to availability. Wine tastings are also available for a small fee in addition to the camping fee.
We have 6 German Shepherds that do what they do as guard dogs, bark when alerted. We take extra steps to keep the dogs quite for you at night during your stay, but its a high probability they will bark at you.

Best rest in the (south)west!
Tom and Eedie (sorry about the spelling 🤷🏽♀️) set a high standard as my first Hipcamp hosts! Tom was in touch from the day I made my reservation to answer any questions - which was great bc I was driving down from Canada on an extended roadtrip. He was cool with my bringing two dogs too!
They were flexible and understanding when I couldn't get there for the first night of my reserved stay. Tom stayed in touch and we sorted out my arrival the day of...very impressive considering both himself and Eedie were up all night harvesting grapes!
Upon my arrival (you can trust the Google Maps directions, despite the Hipcamp warning), both Tom and Eedie came out to greet me and direct me towards the amenities (a super duper clean portable toilet). They also offered a wine tasting in their outdoor tasting room, even thought it was close to 9 pm. Eedie walked me through their awesome varietals, from a PicPoul Blanc to their Mourvedre (4 wines currently available), explaining the clone history, the tasting notes, etc... everything in the dark, illuminated by a headlamp! They were all fabulous, with the Lemberger standing out as most unique (a dark rose or a light red as it was described to me), and the Tannat being Eedie's and now my favourite!
I stayed on the last night of this season's harvest and they were working hard (they told me the next day that they finished at 3 AM). I fell asleep to the sound of their generator without issue and was rewarded early the next day by the sunrise over the Mule (I think?) Mountains!
I'd highly recommend a stay at this Hipcamp or a visit to the High Lonesome Vineyard if you're in the area. You'll be greeted by gracious hosts with intetesting stories and the best local Arizona wine I've tasted to date!

Southwest Vineyards is a beautiful place off the beaten path. i was the only customer and got the full attention of the hostess, Edie. We had some very good conversations about grape-growing, wine making, and dog training. She sat and talked with me the whole time. She gave me a tour of the winery and explained many aspects of wine-making. Edie and her husband do a great job of taking care of their property. They grow their grapes sustainably. The fruits are not sprayed with any chemicals. My visit was a good experience
We loved our stay out at High Lonesome Vineyard! The area is absolutely stunning, and the surrounding mountain ranges are beautiful and provide the most spectacular sunsets. We loved exploring the vineyard and seeing all the gorgeous vines. Our hosts were fantastic; they were so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. There are plenty of wide open pull through spots for RVs of all size. We loved getting to play with the puppies that were about 12 weeks old when we got there. The tasting room is a beautiful open-air area with a fire pit and great tables for hanging out. This is the perfect place for wine lovers!

This was a great experience! When I got there the hosts were very helpful and welcoming. I did a wine tasting with Edie which was delicious and informative. There have a huge yard that I drove out in and choose any spot I wanted. Beautiful views all around and quiet. I would recommend to other travelers.
This was our first hipcamp experience, and our first time RVing (we rented a class C), and our first time dry camping-so we had a lot going on!! From the second we booked with these hosts I felt like we made the right decision! Our host texted me almost immediately, answered my questions and made sure we knew where to go; Tom reached out to us numerous times before the stay and when we were en route, and the directions on the hipcamp site are perfect. We arrived early afternoon, had our choice of spots in their large mowed desert lawn area, and were in the wine testing room within 45m of arrival. Edie is the head winemaker, and Tom’s wife, and their story of how they are both veterans, how they decided to buy land and go into wine making, and how she has taught herself the process is amazing. The wine tasting area is super comfy, the wine is great-we bought a case, and there is a very clean port-a-potty available for use during the stay. We have Verizon and never had any trouble connecting to service, and were able to stream music in the RV just fine. We went in September-so still quite hot during the day, but once the sun went down it was perfect, and the star gazing is unbelievable-I highly recommend downloading the Night Sky app so you know what you are looking at. Lots of peace and quiet and great hosts and great wine-what more do you need?!
Great views, great wine, great host
We had a lovely stay at the High Lonesome Vineyard after a beautiful day of hiking in the Chiracaua National Monument. We stayed in an open field with gorgeous sunset and sunrise views. Tom and Edie were excellent hosts and the wine was divine 🤗 I would definitely stay there again!

Great people, atmosphere, and wine!
I came with a friend to try out "van life" over night in a sprinter van and this was a great spot! The Host's were so welcoming. We came at the tail end of an event at the Vinyard and they were very kind. Great wine too. Plenty of space on the property. Thank you again!!

It was great meeting you and enjoyed your company. Come back soon and enjoy more good times. Cheers
Amazing wines and lots of stars
The hosts communicated really well with us, the wine slushies were AMAZING on a hot day, the hosts let us have our privacy but were always available if we needed anything. When we arrived we got to see a coyote walking by (highlight of the trip, really) and when we wanted to take pictures of the Milky Way without lights from their house between the campsite and the Milky Way, they let us into the vineyard at night to take pictures as long as we were really careful. Overall, they were friendly, the port-o-johns were clean and we had a great time! (Must be OK with big dogs barking at you when you go to the bathroom in the night. It wasn't a problem for us though, as we're not really light sleepers)
