This is Cherokee Medicine Man/Elder, Standing Bear's personal tipi. This tipi has been used in many ceremonies & now found a permanent spot to share with others. On private property, the land includes an outhouse, outdoor water heater shower, outdoor kitchen & seating area. Common areas; she-shed, medicine wheel, & dreamcatcher, shared w/the host family/guests. Chickens roam the yard. It's camping in a safe environment. The hosts live in the house on this one-acre property. There is no house access.
The history and coziness of the tipi are amazing. The tipi is decorated in Native American style with a splash of Boho chic (lol). The carpets are handwoven and the starburst quilt is handmade by the Lakotas and given as a gift from the Lakota Drummers.
Lighting is provided by solar and a small fire pit for ambiance (not to be left on all night/not for heat). A soft bed welcomes you, along with Papasan chairs you can curl into. Lots of blankets for the winter, there is no heater (you're camping) HOWEVER, we have added for winter use, electric heating blankets, so curl up under down-filled blankets as well and stay warm.
The outhouse (toilet/bano) is located behind the tipi, along with the heated shower. Each has instructions on how to use
There is a 'patio' designed for cooking (propane bbq grill is available), along with a tall bar-style table or a bistro set to sit outside and enjoy your meals.
Guests park in the back of the house where the hosts' park. Instructions will be sent after booking.
Guest accessGuests have access to the area, but not the house. The shared common areas are She-shed, the pond, the dream catcher, and the medicine wheel. The chickens wander the yard during the day and go to their house at night.
Guest interactionWe initially guide you to the area and show you around, however, we are normally not available in person. We are available at the request or when we are all outside together.
There is NO HEAT (other than electric blankets in the winter) and NO AIR CONDITIONING in the tipi. There is ELECTRICITY in the tipi, but there are also battery-operated solar lights. You can even charge your phones, via solar. Wi-Fi is minimal, sometimes it's available and sometimes it is not.
It gets COLD in the winter and HOT in the Summer - check out the weather before you arrive.
