Our experience at this campsite was extremely unsettling. My husband and I were passing through the area and were simply looking for a safe place to sleep.
We arrived after sunset. It was dark, and the directions we were given claimed the school bus, which is the marker for this location, would be lit up and easily seen from the street. There were no lights so we called host and he verbally walked us through until we found the site, which is essentially a unkept dirty lot with a school bus and a trailer on the property.
The main reason we booked this location over some of the others in the area was because the listing claimed to have restrooms available. While on the phone with the host, we asked him how we could access the facilities. He said since the lights were out, that meant the two people who live on the property full-time (not him) must be out for the night and would have locked up their trailer which had the restrooms, making them unavailable to us.
All night we felt extremely unsafe staying on this property not knowing when/if the residents would return, given they were unaware our presence. We hardly got any sleep and left very early the next morning. I do not recommend staying here.
Must stop for musicians & artists
Tobi is an incredibly hospitable host. I arrived with my dog to camp for one night as we headed our way cross country. Accommodations were as bohemian as expected though the experience far exceeded anything I could have imagined. The Magic Time Machine is a musician dream and Tobi is a wealth of music know-how along with a endless stories of his past life as a traveling musician. I will definitely be staying here again on my way back home.
Where do we begin? This was by far one of the most memorable trips that we’ve had to date. First off, this bus is a work of art. The drum set is absolutely awesome along with the other countless pieces of gear. Lights go on once it gets dark in/on the bus, so you can play and hang out all night! If you’re looking for an artistic retreat where you can jam out and make some memories- this is the place. Tobi the most accommodating host who has the most genuine heart. His life stories are so interesting that I wish I had more time to listen. As night approached, Tobi brought numerous blankets, a lantern, and most important, a HEATER to our tent. We had to head out on the earlier side the next morning, and as we were packing up our tent we were greeted with coffee and pastries. Man, I can't say enough great things about this stay and we are planning our next trip back as we speak. We will be back! Tobi has big plans for this property and we can't wait to see the final product. Tobi says this isn’t the Hilton hotel and we would have to agree- it’s 100 times better.
I was looking for a campground around the Petrified Forest NP and towards New Mexico, and this place did not dissapoint. The location was freat, near enough to the 40 sobyou can get back on your way the next day, but far enough to get a good nights rest in a quiet, private spot. And Tobi is a wonderful host, he had a power cable, ice chest, BBQ grill with coals, hand sanitizers and a tarp for my tent all handy and available! Great spot overalll, 5/5 in my book.
