If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We really enjoyed this stay, even though it was just a quick overnight stop! Poppi and her family warmly welcomed us on our arrival, showed us around, and were extremely considerate of whether we were wanting to be social or needed privacy. They invited us to join their bonfire but made it clear that they understood we'd had a long drive, might be tired or just not up to it, and not to feel obligated (we did join them and we really enjoyed getting to know the family). There is a lot of space on their property, surrounded by trees, and while their house is in view in the distance, the spot we parked our little campervan in was secluded and quiet. We rested well and comfortably and had to be on our way the next morning, but wished we had more time to just chill out there. These are the kind of people travelers want to meet: welcoming, considerate, kind, and easy to talk to. We had a great time here!
I enjoyed my stay at Poppi's Pearl - our host, Poppi and her husband were so kind and fun to chat with.
I slept in my car that night, was able to sit up and watch the stars - there is such a clear view of the sky here!
There is a bonfire pit for having a bonfire (if there isn't a fire ban that is) and the bathroom available for us campers is SO NICE. It's got a shower + toilet - very clean!
There are some rocky cliffs on the edge of the property that Poppi said her son likes to climb down to the creek below, but we didn't climb down.
The next morning, the sun shone through the trees and it was just magical, we had tea as we walked through the woods and enjoyed the scenery
The Pearl is a great place to stop for the night with your tent and sleeping bag! The bathroom provided is very clean and has everything you need to feel refreshed after a day of travel or prior to the start of the next day's journey.
Pinetop is only a few minutes drive where you can find good eats for the evening or a fresh cup of coffee in the morning.
The hosts are so gracious and welcoming! Poppi and family have done a great job creating a lovely place for campers wanting to simply enjoy nature while also being close to the conveniences of town!
Camp here if you are interested in connecting to the language of this land. You will be rewarded with peacefulness, beauty and wonderful hosts who are extremely generous in opening up this land! Bathroom is so nice and there are many sweet spots to set up your tent and relax deeply. Thank you so much, I look forward to coming back!
Little forest gem!
Great little place! Poppi & Christopher were such gracious, interesting hosts and really cool people. Good communication, nice site, conveniently located...would recommend!
The perfect spot, caring hosts
First of all, the decision to stay at The Pearl was a spontaneous one, part of an epic cross-country drive from Southern Wisconsin to Los Angeles. We left Santa Fe on Christmas Day and were heading towards Scottsdale, the destination for the following day. It was getting near dark and we searched "camping near Globe, AZ." We'd never used hipcamp before but up came "The Pearl." Based on the spot-on synchronicity of the name, the price per night, and the description we did not hesitate to book here. What happened next was Poppi's swift and enthusiastic response to our booking. We arrived earlier than expected on a dark, snowy Christmas night. Poppi and Christopher showed up immediately to greet us, warm up the bathroom, and make sure we would be safe and comfortable. It was only after getting settled in that Christopher said they rarely have guests in the wintertime...leave it to a couple of cuckoos from Wisconsin to think nothing of car camping in 4" of snow. In summary, Poppi and Christopher showed us hospitality beyond expectations and we are most grateful. Many thanks, Bazile and David
You won't be disappointed at all.
I've been camping my entire life. Usually I'll go 30 days at a time and just live off the land. I've actually not been in 2 years so I needed to get out. This was my first time ever going to a private camp site. I was a bit nervous at first, but since I was bringing my family I thought it was better than what I'm used to. I was so impressed by everything! Chris was so friendly and took very good care of us. I will be back again soon. I'm so thankful that we found the Pearl. Kid and pet friendly and the hosts were the absolute best. I selfishly almost wanted to give all negative reviews to keep this our little secret but the cat is definitely out of the bag now lol. So please I beg you to treat the hosts with the same respect you would treat your own family members. When you leave, leave the land better than the way that they left it for you. I honestly can't begin to express just how thankful we are too have such an amazing experience. Also, get the firewood and Don't forget to TIP Chris well when he brings it to you because he chopped it all himself. His work seemed to never end and I almost felt guilty by just how much work he put into making sure all of the guests felt welcomed and were taken care of. I can sit here and write all day and just how amazing this little spot is.
