Notice: Beasley Flat Rec. Area is open again as of 4/20/23 The area is part of the National Wild and Scenic preserve on the Verde River. The river is one of the only few free flowing rivers in Arizona. Otters, Beaver, Blue Heron and a vast amount of migratory birds call it home. Once an inland water way to the Sea of Cortez, the river was part of the trade route during ancient times. Many Indian Ruins and archeological sites to visit in the area. Scenic boating, hiking and ATV trails right from your campsite. Learn more about this land: Pitch a tent or a small camp trailer in a 1/2 acre Mesquite grove. Five minute stroll to the Verde River. Horse Back Tours and Boat rentals available locally within walking distance. National Forest recreation area (Beasley Flat) close by. Many Indian ruins, entertainment, wineries and mountain trail to explore in the area. Gene is such a welcoming and kind soul. We needed a place to camp last minute and he was very responsive and helpful. He let us check out the area before we booked. He also gave us some firewood, and we had a great conversation with him. Highly recommend!! There is so much to do around the campsite (cave dwellings, petroglyphs, Verde river access), but sadly we had to leave the next day!

Exceptional Spot & River close by

Fantastic place to camp! The area has lots of easy access to hiking trails, HOV roads, and the river is super close by. Great spot for families to camp or getting together with friends for a trip. Plenty of space to set up camp and trees for hammock set up. Love that they supply a charcoal grill and even put a couple pieces of firewood in the ring to get us started. Overall couldn’t have been happier with the site and the layout. Will definitely be back!

Great stay! Quiet, secluded, there were cars passing nearby but everyone was so nice.
