This property is AMAZING! Absolutely beautiful scenery and endless places to explore. The cacti is diverse and stunning but not overwhelming. There are plenty of places to sent up a tent and Donna has cleared a few large areas for RVs. There are also fire rings and plenty of privacy. Donna lives on the property but you will feel very secluded. I met her dog Jay who was a total sweetheart, but Donna also has lots of other rescue animals on the property. The coolest thing was actual petroglyphs on the rocks here! Getting here off the highway is pretty simple and the roads are well maintained. Come here for seclusion, amazing natural beauty, and stunning skies.
Couldn't have been a better first Hipcamp experience. Truly.
Donna was a friendly and helpful host, as was JT the dog. Fantastic campsite, nestled in a valley. Campsite 1 is the more private site amongst the bushes and trees.
Bit of a dirt road to get to the property, but nothing too bad. There is a great little hike up a hill with a stunning view of the valley and some cool petroglyphs as well.
Also, FYI there is a kitchy little general store in Hackberry, AZ just up route 66. No real camping supplies, but plenty of Route 66 themed stuff.
Wild blue yonder, junipers, stars
After messaging Donna that we were on our way, she met us at the gate (cattle rangeland nearby) and showed us to the sites. We had the place to ourselves! There was firewood ready to go, and Donna shared a few tips on things to explore around the camp - including the petroglyphs a short hike away!
Quiet, serene, but felt safe with the host just up the hill and ranches nearby. Highly recommend.
Donna has a beautiful property. So much to explore and just accidentally waste your whole day doing so. The sites themselves are stunning. I was also able to observe creatures roaming around as they naturally do. It was very quiet and peaceful. The night sky out there is really something else. Keep your eyes moving though or you’ll get dizzy!
The road there was not a problem. After Donna pointed out my spot, I never saw or heard another person until I got back to the highway the next day! Quiet, stars, and some friendly wildlife to help me slow down, thanks!
Looking for a reason to return
The drive there was beautiful and scenic, just 45 minutes outside of Kingman. The host Donna met us at the gate with one of the dogs, JT, and led us to the campsite on her four wheeler. The site was clean and very private with a short walk to the onsite petroglyphs. We were able to stargaze and see the Milky Way from our tent. In the morning, JT greeted us and kept our kiddo entertained while we packed up camp.
Donna met me at the gate to take me to my campsite. She had been there previously to rake and scare off any snakes. I had requested the bundle of wood and it was there with kindling for the fire-pit. She chatted with me and showed me some petroglyphs and then left me to enjoy the landscape. A family of wild pigs ran through camp at night and the sky was gorgeous!
